Job Description

Join a small, locally-owned, family-oriented, and growing business! We are looking for part-time special event staff to help create an amazing guest experience at weddings, receptions, parties, festivals, etc. The individual assigned to this role will assist with a variety of tasks such as setting up and taking down tables and chairs, moving furniture to/from on-site storage closets, installing and removing pedestrian stanchions and/or fencing, providing guidance during events to other vendors with load-in/load-outs, buffet management, serving, bartending, table bussing, directing guests, parking lot attending/traffic control and other duties as assigned. This is an excellent side-gig or retiree opportunity. The selected candidate for this position can expect 2-5 shifts per month. Compensation includes a competitive salary, holiday weekend shift premiums, travel pay, paid training, and bonus opportunities. Promotional opportunities are available! Responsibilities Under the direction of an on-site supervisor, the successful person in this position will be able to understand and execute directions to flip a venue to a new floor plan by removing, relocating, and/or replacing furniture and fixtures as outlined on the floor plan. Direct guests to check-in tables, restrooms, and other locations within the venue specific to that event. Prepares room for dining by clothing tables and setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils. Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies. Helps patrons select food and beverages by suggesting courses, explaining the chef's specialties, identifying appropriate beverage pairings, and answering food preparation questions. Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages for event patrons Interact with customers, take orders and serve drinks Assess customers' needs and preferences and make recommendations Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails Check customers' identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience Comply with all food and beverage regulations Setup, manage, and breakdown food buffets Bus tables Take out trash and recycling Direct vehicles in parking lots to open spaces and enforce no stopping policy near venue entrance. Assist guest attending multiple events at a single venue find their way Other tasks as assigned by management Skills Ability to consistently lift and move up to 50 lbs. Ability to occasionally team lift and move coolers up to 150 lbs. Ability to push carts containing tables and chairs on flat, level floors. Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time (6-8 hours). Ability to work in an outdoor environment year-round. Ability to read a floor plan. Positive attitude and excellent communication skills. Knowledge of food safety standards. Resume and proven working experience as a bartender and/or banquet server. Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks. Computer literacy. Crowd Manager certification from NC Dept. of Insurance a plus, but not required pre-employment. ServSafe food handler certification a plus, but not required pre-employment. ABC Responsible Seller/Server certification a plus, but not required pre-employment. Work Schedule & Benefits Most shifts are evenings, as well as afternoons and evenings of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Typically at least 3 weeks notice of upcoming events Travel more than 15 miles from your home and outside Wake/Durham counties is reimbursable at 40 cents/mile Bonus oppertunities
