HDSID is seeking a creative, organized, and motivated Social Media & Events Manager to manage the organization's social media and marketing efforts and oversee the HDSID Handmade Market and related events. The ideal candidate has experience with social media marketing, content creation, and event coordination. This position requires someone who is comfortable working with local businesses, sponsors, artists, vendors, and community partners and can manage multiple projects and deadlines throughout the year. Social Media & Marketing Responsibilities Manage HDSID's social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms. Create, edit, publish, and share regular social media content. Promote HDSID events, programs, sponsors, and in-district businesses. Visit businesses throughout the district to take photos and create content. Attend HDSID events and ribbon cuttings to take photos and videos for social media. Write captions and create engaging content appropriate for each social media platform. Monitor social media channels and respond to messages, comments, and inquiries. Meet and communicate with sponsors to coordinate content and promotional opportunities. Make sure sponsor benefits related to social media and marketing are fulfilled. Help create simple graphics, flyers, and other promotional materials when needed. Maintain a consistent HDSID voice and image across social media and marketing materials. Identify new content ideas and opportunities to promote Downtown Jersey City. Handmade Market & Vendor Management Manage the HDSID Handmade Market and related special events, including JC Fridays, JCAST, and the Happy Holiday Handmade Market. Create and maintain vendor applications and registration forms. Review vendor applications and select an appropriate and diverse mix of artists, makers, and vendors. Track vendor applications, payments, scheduled dates, and required paperwork. Communicate with vendors regarding acceptance, payments, schedules, permits, insurance, waivers, and other requirements. Send setup instructions, event-day information, and other important updates to vendors. Coordinate vendor placements and booth assignments. Respond to vendor questions, cancellations, and schedule changes. Maintain accurate and organized vendor records throughout the season. Assist vendors and address issues that may arise on event days. Events & District Responsibilities Assist with the planning and execution of HDSID events and programs. Attend HDSID events as required, including some evenings and weekends. Assist with event setup and day-of operations. Help coordinate ribbon cuttings and other business and community events. Work closely with HDSID staff, businesses, sponsors, vendors, and outside event partners. Maintain positive relationships with businesses and stakeholders throughout the district. Assist with other marketing, event, and administrative duties as needed. Qualifications Experience in social media management and marketing. Strong knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable taking photos and videos and creating social media content. Basic graphic design skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple events, vendors, and deadlines at the same time. Comfortable communicating professionally with businesses, sponsors, vendors, and the public. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good judgment and attention to detail. Event or vendor-management experience preferred. Comfortable using Google Forms, Google Sheets, and other basic office programs. Strong familiarity with Jersey City and its local businesses, events, and community is preferred. Jersey City residents are encouraged to apply, but residency is not required. Education & Experience Associate degree or higher preferred.
Social media management:
1+ year preferred.Marketing:
1+ year preferred. Event coordination or vendor-management experience preferred. Schedule This is a full-time, in-person position based in Downtown Jersey City. The position requires flexibility during HDSID's event season and may include evenings and weekends depending on the event schedule.Pay:
