Part-Time/On-Call, 12-Month Mohawk Valley Community College provides accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to meet the diverse needs of our students. We are the community's college, committed to student success through partnerships, transfer and career pathways, and personal enrichment. The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking an Events Assistant in our Events and Guest Services office. The Events Assistant supports the office by modeling and demonstrating the highest standard of excellence in quality customer service, responding quickly and courteously to patrons' needs, in event preparation and conclusion, in the College's performing arts venues or conference facilities on the Rome and Utica Campuses. Duties may include box office, ticket taking, ushering, and/or concessions. Key responsibilities for this position include: Operates the Box Office Ticketing system to sell and process tickets, handling cash and credit card sales and reconciling with reports; Scans patron's tickets upon entry and usher to the correct seat; Assists patrons with special seating requests or needs; Answers Box Office phone calls; Operates the concession stand; Serves as a contact person on-site for assigned event; Sets up technical needs for presenters such as PowerPoints, connecting to Wifi, or turning on music, when applicable; Performs other duties related to the job description as assigned by the Assistant Director of Events and Guest Services.
Work Schedule:
Work assignments and weekly hours will vary based on departmental needs and the calendar of events. Candidates must be available to work weekends as needed and have flexibility to accept assignments during peak operational periods, particularly in May, June, and November.
Hours per week:
This is an on-call, part-time position with no guaranteed number of hours.
Qualifications:
Associate's degree or a minimum of 60 completed college credits Effective customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to solve problems quickly and courteously Ability to maintain composure and a professional, friendly demeanor in a fast-paced environment Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft PowerPoint Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed
