Job Description

We are seeking our next Events Specialist who will be all-in our mission and who supports Panhandle PBS by planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising, community engagement, educational, donor stewardship, and special events that advance the station's mission and strengthen relationships with viewers, members, donors, sponsors, and community partners. This position assists with event logistics, volunteer coordination, vendor communication, participant engagement, and administrative support to ensure successful and well-organized events.
EDUCATION
:
Required:
Associate Degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Office Administration, or a related field. •Years of relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
EXPERIENCE
:
Required:
One (1) to two (2) years of experience coordinating, planning, or supporting events, programs, projects, community activities, customer service operations, or related functions.
Preferred:
Experience supporting fundraising, nonprofit, educational, community, or public relations events. Experience coordinating vendors, volunteers, sponsors, registrations, budgets, or event logistics. Experience working in higher education, nonprofit organizations, public media, or community-focused environments. Coordinate and assist with the planning and execution of fundraising, donor, educational, community outreach, and special events. Manage event logistics including scheduling, venue coordination, vendor communication, catering, equipment, supplies, and event setup. Coordinate event registrations, guest communications, check-in processes, and post-event follow-up activities. Assist with volunteer recruitment, scheduling, training, and coordination for station events and activities. Support sponsor recognition, donor stewardship, and membership engagement efforts during events and community activities. Maintain event records, attendance data, budgets, invoices, receipts, and other related documentation. Coordinate with Amarillo College departments, community organizations, vendors, and event partners as needed. Assist with promotional activities and distribution of event-related materials. Provide administrative support including data entry, filing, mailings, purchasing requests, and report preparation. Represent Panhandle PBS in a professional and positive manner at station and community events. Perform other work-related duties as required. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond professionally in a fast-paced environment. Ability to coordinate and work effectively with volunteers, vendors, community partners, and event participants. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Ability to identify and resolve routine problems while maintaining a positive and solution-oriented approach. Ability to represent Panhandle PBS and Amarillo College in a professional, courteous, and welcoming manner. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of scheduled events and community engagement activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Salary:
Amarillo College follows a lag pay strategy, with starting offers typically between the minimum and midpoint of the pay grade, rarely reaching the maximum to support long-term growth within each position. Pay grade 6 Amarillo College Pay Grades (salary is determined by Human Resources based on education, work experience and internal comparisons).
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and operate standard office equipment. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, move, or transport materials weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in office, event, and community settings. This position may require occasional evening and weekend hours to support scheduled events and station activities.
Working Environment:
The work environment is generally indoors in an office setting but may include event venues, educational facilities, community locations, and outdoor event spaces. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
