Reporting to the Event Services Manager, the Event Staff Supervisor will supervise the Event Staff. This role plays an essential part of the guest experience and helps build memories for the staff and those in attendance. The position is in close communication with the event managers and may at times need to make educated decisions on how to deliver positive customer service on their own within the policies and procedures established. This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00 Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) savings plan and 401(k) matching. This position will remain open until December 4, 2026. About theVenue:
Chartway Arena is a 9,100-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Old Dominion University. Operated by OVG360 since it opened in 2002, Chartway Arena is known as one of the premier mid-sized collegiate venues in the country. Chartway Arena is home to Old Dominion Monarch Men's and Women's basketball, as well as concerts, family shows, and other attractions for the Hampton Roads area.Responsibilities:
Assist in day-of supervision of the day-of events team members, including ticket takers, ushers, and third-party security. Work closely with the Event Managers and Guest Services Manager to ensure that all event-related information is properly relayed to part-time staff. Prepare your assigned section for guests; this includes reporting any issues to the appropriate staff. When doors/gates open, welcome guests with a great smile and helpful attitude. Supervise and oversee the scanning of event tickets, ensuring that the proper ticket is being used to gain entry. Assist fans in locating their seats. Being alert and proactive to potential hazards and reporting incidents when they occur. Supervising staff in your assigned area for issues and opportunities to make lasting memories for our guests. Respond to all guest concerns/complaints promptly and in a professional manner. Report any issues to the Event Manager or Guest Services Coordinator. Assist guests in ADA-accessible seating sections. Enforce all building policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all guests. Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients. Support the foot traffic flow of large crowds. Report, respond to, and record all incidents that occur during an event. These could include medical or safety incidents. Be knowledgeable about the arena emergency evacuation plan in order to safely assist guests during the unlikely event of an emergency. Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:
2-3 years of experience in a hospitality, entertainment, or security environment is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred. High school diploma or GED. Must love working with and helping people. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be able to maintain a positive attitude while handling difficult situations. Must have a demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and provide creative on-the-spot solutions to challenges.Flexible schedule:
