About DTC Expo & Event Center DTC Expo & Event Center is a new 120,000-square-foot expo and event venue located at Dulles Town Center in Northern Virginia. Designed to host consumer shows, trade shows, conventions, exhibitions, corporate events, and other large-scale gatherings, DTC offers flexible event spaces ranging from 30,000 to 120,000 square feet. As we prepare to open our doors, we are building a hands-on, service-focused team committed to delivering exceptional experiences for event organizers, exhibitors, and guests. This is an opportunity to join DTC at the ground level and play an important role in building Northern Virginia's premier expo and event destination. Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for the successful planning and execution of events at DTC Expo & Event Center. This position serves as the primary operational contact for promoters after an event is booked and coordinates DTC staff, contractors, and service providers to ensure events run safely and efficiently. As a member of DTC's initial leadership team, the Operations Manager will also help establish operating procedures, service standards, staffing practices, and event-management processes as the venue launches. The Operations Manager reports to the General Manager and oversees the Event & Venue Operations Supervisor and on-call Event Coordinators. Key Responsibilities Serve as the primary operational contact for promoters and event organizers. Conduct pre-event planning meetings and develop event operating plans. Coordinate event schedules, move-in, show hours, and move-out. Coordinate event services including security, cleaning, parking, electrical, internet/Wi-Fi, waste management, AV/staging, and other venue services. Coordinate with decorators/general service contractors and other event vendors. Review event floor plans and operational requirements. Determine staffing and service-provider requirements for each event. Document additional services and charges incurred during events for final billing. Manage promoter requirements and service orders for DTC venue services, coordinating physical execution with the Event & Venue Operations Supervisor. Supervise the Event & Venue Operations Supervisor and on-call Event Coordinators. Oversee event-day operations and resolve operational issues. Coordinate compliance with venue policies, fire/life-safety requirements, and certificates of insurance. Conduct pre- and post-event walkthroughs with promoters. Document additional services and charges incurred during events for final billing. Maintain event operating procedures, checklists, and service-provider relationships. Escalate significant operational, safety, customer, or facility issues to the General Manager. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in event, venue, convention, expo, hospitality, or related operations preferred. Demonstrated experience planning and executing events involving multiple vendors, timelines, and operational requirements. Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to manage event service costs, track additional services and labor, and provide accurate information for event billing and reconciliation. Experience coordinating multiple third-party service providers and holding vendors accountable for service delivery. Prior experience in event centers, hospitality, or venue operations is highly beneficial. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate event staff. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage multiple events, vendors, and priorities. Comfortable working directly with promoters, contractors, and service providers. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule. Hands-on attitude and willingness to step in wherever necessary in a growing operation. What Success Looks Like Success in this role means events are properly planned, promoters know what to expect, service providers are coordinated, the venue is ready on time, operational issues are resolved quickly, and events move in, operate, and move out safely and efficiently. Compensation & Benefits DTC Expo & Event Center offers competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications.
Base Salary:
$75,000-$90,000, based on experience
