Manages client's progress from lead status, booking, planning, and organizing, to onsite set-up and event execution. Maintains a positive and professional image and builds an effective rapport with clients and prospective clients. Promptly follows up with sales contacts and leads. Contributes to the overall sales objective of Meydenbauer Center by achieving goals set forth by the Director of Sales & Marketing and Meydenbauer Center's marketing plan. Develops and maintains an accurate, up to date, and comprehensive knowledge of capabilities of the Center, and can effectively utilize this knowledge for sales and planning to match those capabilities with the needs of the client or prospective client. Has knowledge of Meydenbauer Center's catering menus, services and policies and assists clients with catering information. Conducts catering menu planning and sales. Works closely with the Director of Food and Beverage, Executive Chef and other catering staff. Conducts personal facility tours for prospective clients. Plans client events after needs have been determined, guides client in the "best" use of Meydenbauer Center, additional services, catering, and technology. Orchestrates and manages pre-con meetings with clients as deemed necessary. Composes proposals, contracts, event reports and room diagrams. Thoroughly documents information relating to contracts and needs of clients or prospective clients. Assures event files are properly maintained, organized and kept up to date, correctly using the department's procedures. Prepares floor plans and room diagrams for events in accordance with applicable city codes. Prepares event plan to coordinate supportive services required by the client, before, during and after the event. Communicates all event logistics to internal team members to ensure staff are prepared to produce a successful program for the client. Assists in providing direction for all event-related activity and support services for an event. When acting in the capacity of the Manager on Duty (MOD), has responsibility for the facility and all its components in the absence of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and the Director of Facility Services. This includes the safety and welfare of the facility and its occupants, and the authority to authorize an evacuation of the facility. Maintains and provides utilization statistics at the conclusion of each event. Provides costs relative to each event such as staffing, special requests, rental equipment, and catering amounts for invoicing. Prepares final event invoicing to Finance within established guidelines. Follow up with client upon completion of the event and invoicing to ensure client satisfaction and pursue a rebooking. Maintains on going client relationships for potential re-booking and future opportunities. Attends and participates in local trade shows, staffing and passing out promotional literature as assigned by the Director of Sales and Marketing. Effectively solicits and sells Meydenbauer Center and all services using telephone, email, and personal contacts. Looks for opportunities to bring new clients to Meydenbauer Center by researching other large events in the greater Seattle area and reaching out to prospective clients. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Event Management, Marketing, Sales, Advertising or another related field. Two (2) years of experience in event coordination/planning, sales or a comparable position at a convention facility, hotel or other multi-use public assembly facility. One (1) year of computer experience involving the Microsoft Office Suite and Social Tables is required. Other equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.COMPETENCIES
Performs all duties in a professional, productive manner with emphasis on client satisfaction, to ensure successful operation of Meydenbauer Center. Ability to tactfully deal with staff, clients, the general public and the hospitality community. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, as well as enjoy relating and conversing with others. Ability to express self clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to maintain a professional image. Knowledge of personal computer and related software, specifically event management software), Word, Excel, event diagramming software and proposal-building programs. Knowledge of marketing principles and public relations as they relate to booking space and catering sales. Working knowledge of directing events where large numbers of the general public are in attendance and their safety and well-being are of paramount importance. Ability to accurately handle a multitude of details and work within a fast paced, deadline driven environment. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves 10 pounds or more. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.POSITION TYPE/ WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm or when events are in progress.
