Healthy Flavors Arkansas is a working farm and food hub in Conway focused on increasing access to fresh, locally grown food throughout Central Arkansas. We grow vegetables on our farm and work through our food hub to process, package, freeze, and distribute locally produced food to schools, early childhood education programs, markets, community partners, and other customers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Healthy Flavors Arkansas is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Food Processing, Food Safety & Delivery Associate. This position has four major areas of responsibility: food processing, food safety and sanitation, delivery and distribution, and farmers market operations. The employee will help turn locally grown produce into safe, high-quality packaged and frozen products, prepare products for markets and distribution, and ensure those products reach customers and community partners safely, accurately, and on time.
DELIVERY & DISTRIBUTION
Delivery driving is a major component of this position. Load, organize, transport, and deliver fresh and frozen food products to customers, schools, early childhood education (ECE) sites, markets, community partners, and other distribution locations. Complete regularly scheduled delivery routes throughout Central Arkansas. Verify orders before loading to ensure correct products and quantities. Load and unload boxes, coolers, frozen products, and other materials. Maintain appropriate product temperatures and food-safety practices during transportation. Communicate professionally with customers and partner organizations. Complete required delivery documentation and communicate shortages, schedule changes, or customer concerns. Maintain cleanliness and basic organization of delivery vehicles.
FARMERS MARKET OPERATIONS
Farmers market participation is a regular component of this position. Prepare, organize, and pack fresh produce, frozen products, supplies, signage, tables, tents, coolers, and other materials needed for market. Load the market vehicle and verify that products and supplies are ready before departure. Attend scheduled farmers markets as required. Assist with market setup and breakdown. Stock and maintain an organized and attractive market display. Interact professionally with customers and answer basic questions about Healthy Flavors Arkansas and its products. Assist with product sales and customer transactions as needed. Maintain proper food handling and temperature control during the market. Help track products taken to and returned from market. Unload and properly store remaining products and market equipment following the market. Assist with market preparation, cleanup, and reconciliation duties as assigned.
FOOD PROCESSING
Receive and prepare fresh produce for processing. Wash, sort, trim, cut, peel, blanch, freeze, package, and label products according to established procedures. Operate food-processing equipment after appropriate training, including greens washing and processing equipment, vacuum packaging equipment, produce-processing equipment, and blast/shock freezing equipment. Accurately weigh and portion products into established package sizes. Minimize product loss and accurately account for finished products.
FOOD SAFETY & SANITATION
Follow established food-safety procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Clean and sanitize processing equipment, food-contact surfaces, floors, sinks, and work areas. Complete required cleaning and sanitation records. Assist with FSMA-related documentation and recordkeeping. Monitor proper product handling, temperatures, storage, and sanitation practices. Immediately communicate food-safety or equipment concerns to management.
PACKAGING, INVENTORY & FOOD HUB ORGANIZATION
Package and label finished products accurately. Maintain organized inventories of finished products and packaging materials. Rotate inventory using established procedures and assist with physical inventory counts. Organize freezers, coolers, dry storage, and processing areas. Pick and prepare customer orders for delivery, farmers markets, and other distribution channels. Verify outgoing orders for accuracy.
CROSS-TRAINING & FARM SUPPORT
Healthy Flavors Arkansas operates as an integrated working farm and food hub. While this position is primarily focused on food processing, food safety, inventory, deliveries, and farmers markets, employees may periodically be asked to assist with farm operations based on seasonal workload and organizational needs. This may include harvesting, washing and packing produce, transplanting, weeding, general crop maintenance, farm cleanup, and other basic farm tasks. Training will be provided for unfamiliar tasks and equipment as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
Reliable attendance and punctuality. Valid driver's license and safe driving record. Ability to safely operate company delivery vehicles. Comfortable spending a significant portion of scheduled hours driving and making deliveries. Availability to attend scheduled farmers markets as required. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures. Ability to interact professionally with customers and community partners. Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments when necessary. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds and repeatedly load and unload products. Ability to complete food-safety, inventory, delivery, and market records accurately. Flexibility and willingness to assist across food hub and farm operations when needed. Relevant food processing, delivery, farmers market, warehouse, kitchen, manufacturing, or food-safety experience is helpful but not required.
SCHEDULE
Part-time, approximately 15-20 hours per week. Scheduling will be based around processing needs, established delivery routes, farmers markets, and organizational needs. Availability for scheduled farmers markets is required. $17-20 an hour depending on experience
