The Crew Leader position is ideal for an experienced arborist who is passionate about leading teams, ensuring safety, and delivering high-quality tree care services. This role involves hands-on work in tree climbing, pruning, removals, and health assessments, while also providing leadership and guidance to crew members and serving as a key point of contact for clients and management. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate a crew in performing tree pruning, removals, and specialized tree care services Climb trees safely and efficiently to perform pruning and removal tasks Operate and maintain climbing systems, chainsaws, rigging, and aerial equipment Assess tree health, structural integrity, and identify potential hazards Apply proper pruning techniques to promote tree health and aesthetics Remove hazardous limbs and trees while minimizing risk to people and property Oversee ground crew operations for efficient debris removal and site management Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites in accordance with company policies Communicate professionally with clients, providing expert guidance and recommendations Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards Serve as a liaison between field staff and management Qualifications ISA Certified Arborist (required) Valid California Drivers License with ability to drive tree trucks and operate chippers Proven experience leading a crew and communicating effectively with management Fluency in English Strong background in tree climbing, pruning, and removals Knowledge of tree species identification, health assessment, and industry safety standards Ability to operate, maintain, and inspect tree care tools and equipment Strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills Benefits Competitive pay with opportunities for 40+ hours per week, based on experience and qualifications Paid time off (PTO) and holidays for work-life balance Overtime opportunities during storm cleanup and peak seasons Long-term and short-term disability insurance (employer paid) Basic life & AD&D insurance (employer paid) 401(k) retirement plan with up to 4% company match Flexible insurance options for health, dental, and vision coverage, allowing employees to choose plans that fit their needs and budget Health insurance options through Cigna, including
