Farm Crew Member with Leadership Potential

Singing Frogs Farm is the original small scale, diversified no-till market garden. Our year-round, ecologically intense farm has a rocking crew that farm, learn and have fun together. We're looking for more to join! This is an August start position. You will join our crew late season, and then farm with us through the winter. People who take on this position then hit the following season strong, understanding our system and having seen the end of the season. We do this every year and love it. This year more than others we're looking for people with the ability and desire to take on leadership positions and grow in our farm. Our team consists of a wide variety of full and part-time farm crew members totaling 5-9 FTEs depending on the season. Farm crew members are experienced, highly self-motivated, work well in teams or alone, are responsible for managing and problem solving the many aspects of daily farm work and have fun together. Farm Crew tasks include, but are not limited to: Intensive, No-Till Bed Clearing, Preparation & Transplanting Harvesting, Washing & Packing Farmers' Markets Sales Nursery Propagation Irrigation Systems Management Maintenance of barn, greenhouse, hoop houses, hedgerows, fruit trees, etc. (More detailed job description available upon request.) Leadership Roles For those who are newer to farming a basic farm crew role is appropriate. But we hope that you will come with the capacity or gain the capacity while you are here to take on leadership roles which have increased responsibilities as well as increase compensation. These may include the following and may or may not be available right away: Field Lead Nursery Lead Irrigation Lead Restaurant Liaison Cover Crop Lead Compost Lead Harvest Manager Flower Lead Assistant Manager Farm Manager Strong candidates should have: 1 year experience working on a small scale production farm, no-till experience preferred. More if hoping to move into leadership roles quickly. Strong communication skills Open to learning new systems Flexible, dynamic and a self-starter Able to move quickly and effectively Able to make independent decisions and yet work well in groups Hard-working, competent and task-oriented Able to do physical work under a wide variety of weather conditions Have a valid driver's license Able to get stuff done! Candidates being considered for the position will be interviewed, then invited to the farm for a paid one or two day working interview. There will be a 30 day trial period followed by a review. Those interested in digging deep into learning no-till, agroecological market farming will be moved through several leadership roles. Our Base Rate for pay is currently $20 per hour currently for those with at least a year prior farming experience. At 3, 6, 9, 12 months (full time) there are $0.50 per hour increases plus $1 at 18 and 24 months. Then there are also leadership based compensation bumps and commission potential. We recognize this is a low start as we know some people want to come to us for a learning experience. If you have significant no-till experience, let's chat.
