The Meat Clerk at the New Castle Farmers Market supports daily stand operations in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. This role is responsible for preparing, packaging, stocking, and presenting fresh meat products while maintaining Stoltzfus Meats' standards for quality, cleanliness, and food safety. Key Responsibilities Provide friendly and helpful customer service Package, weigh, label, and stock fresh meat products Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked display cases Rotate inventory using FIFO practices Monitor product quality and freshness Assist with basic meat preparation tasks as trained Follow all food safety and sanitation standards Clean equipment, prep areas, counters, scales and other surfaces Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries Support meat cutters and department leadership as needed Qualifications Customer service experience preferred Grocery, food service, or meat department experience helpful but not required Ability to follow food safety and sanitation procedures Strong attention to detail Dependable and team-oriented Willingness to learn basic meat department skills Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Frequent lifting up to 40 lbs Occasional lifting up to 60 lbs Comfortable working in refrigerated environments Ability to safely use knives and department equipment (training provided)
