July 19, 2026 Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Seafood Market Associate to support daily seafood operations in the military commissaries located at Mayport Commissary. This role involves handling, preparing, and selling fresh seafood products while ensuring full compliance with Florida health regulations. Key Responsibilities- Receive, inspect, and properly store fresh seafood deliveries in accordance with Navy and food safety standards.
- Prepare, cut, and package seafood products for display and sale.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary workspaces at all times.
- Provide excellent customer service to active-duty service members, reservists, retirees, DoD civilians, and authorized patrons.
- Monitor product quality, freshness, and proper stock rotation (FIFO).
- Safely operate scales, knives, and seafood preparation equipment.
- Comply with all installation access procedures, ID checks, and security protocols. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in seafood handling, food service, commissary, or retail preferred.
- Ability to work in a cold, wet environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain access to NAS Jacksonville. Security & Vetting Requirements Due to the position being located on a U.S. Navy installation, all applicants must:
- Pass a background check in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy requirements.
- Provide valid government-issued identification (REAL ID compliant or approved alternative).
- Successfully complete Jacksonville base access vetting procedures.
- Comply with all installation security policies and Force Protection Conditions (FPCON) measures.
- Employment is contingent upon successful clearance and continued eligibility for base access. Florida Health & Safety Compliance All employees must adhere to applicable Florida food safety standards, including:
- Compliance with FDA Food Code as adopted by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
- Proper handwashing, glove use, and personal hygiene practices.
- Maintaining seafood at safe temperatures (41°F or below for cold holding).
- Maintain display area and seafood products
- Preventing cross-contamination between raw and ready-to-eat foods.
- Routine cleaning and sanitizing of food-contact surfaces.
- Awareness and reporting of foodborne illness symptoms.
- Completion of Food Handler or Food Safety Certification within 30 days of hire (if not already obtained). Work Schedule
