Job Description

Front of House Team Member LB. Kitchen is an all-day, counter-service café in Portland, Maine. We make thoughtful, craveable food that's good for your gut, your taste buds, and your group chat.
Our goal is simple:
good food, good people, and a welcoming space that fits into real life. We are looking for a full-time Front of House Team Member to join us Wednesday through Sunday. Shifts generally run from 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., or 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.—no late nights! About the Role Our Front of House team helps create the warm, efficient, and inclusive experience that makes LB. feel like LB. This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that involves connecting with guests, preparing beverages, coordinating orders, maintaining a clean and organized café, and supporting the rest of the team wherever needed. All Front of House employees are cross-trained on multiple stations, including: Register and guest service Barista and beverage preparation Expo and order coordination Restocking, cleaning, and closing the café Team members rotate between stations based on the needs of the day. We are looking for someone who is excited to learn the full flow of service and contribute wherever they are needed. Responsibilities Welcome guests and provide friendly, thoughtful, and efficient service Learn the menu and confidently answer questions about ingredients, modifications, and dietary needs Accurately enter and process in-person, online, and delivery orders Prepare coffee, espresso, tea, and other café beverages according to LB. standards Coordinate food and beverage orders at expo, ensuring they are complete, accurate, and presented well Communicate clearly with the kitchen and fellow Front of House team members Keep stations stocked, clean, organized, and ready for service Assist with opening, ongoing side work, and closing responsibilities Maintain awareness of the dining room and help create a space that feels warm, clean, and welcoming Follow all food safety, cleanliness, cash-handling, and workplace policies Jump in to support the team during busy services Our Ideal Candidate Has two or more years of restaurant, café, or hospitality experience, although we are happy to train the right person Has a genuine interest in food, beverages, and hospitality Is curious, eager to learn, and comfortable being trained across multiple stations Communicates kindly, clearly, efficiently, and respectfully Thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Works well as part of a team and knows when to ask for support Is dependable, adaptable, and able to shift priorities as service requires Takes ownership of mistakes, learns from them, and moves forward Brings a positive, grounded presence to both guest and team interactions Can meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing for extended periods and pushing, pulling, carrying, or lifting up to 50 pounds What Success Looks Like A successful Front of House Team Member can confidently work across register, barista, expo, and closing stations; communicates proactively with teammates; stays calm and organized during busy services; and helps every guest feel welcomed and cared for. They take pride in the details, contribute to a clean and efficient café, and understand that great hospitality is a team effort.
