Job Overview Experienced Kitchen Cook / Food Service Associate - Sky Fuel Sky Fuel is seeking an experienced, dependable Kitchen Cook / Food Service Associate to join our team in Biloxi, Mississippi. We are looking for someone who has experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen and understands that operating a successful food-service department involves much more than cooking. This position is responsible for food preparation, customer service, kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, organization, and maintaining proper food-safety standards throughout each shift.
Responsibilities include:
Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and other hot food items according to established procedures Serve customers and prepare plates from our hot-hold food service area Provide friendly, welcoming, and professional customer service Maintain a clean and professional appearance and proper personal hygiene Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, prep areas, counters, utensils, floors, and other kitchen areas
PROPERLY STORE, LABEL, DATE, ROTATE, AND DISCARD FOOD PRODUCTS
Monitor food temperatures and follow proper hot-holding, cold-holding, cooling, thawing, and storage procedures Keep refrigerators, freezers, dry storage, prep areas, and the overall kitchen clean and organized Follow applicable food-safety and Health Department procedures Help maintain the kitchen so it is inspection-ready at all times Prepare and maintain products for our Pizza Hut Express operation Complete opening, closing, cleaning, stocking, and other kitchen duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant, convenience-store kitchen, deli, cafeteria, or similar food-service environment is strongly preferred. Applicants should have a working knowledge of basic food-safety and sanitation procedures and be FoodSafe/Food Handler certified. Candidates must also have an open and flexible schedule and be able to work efficiently during busy periods. Experience with Pizza Hut is not required but is highly welcomed. Training will be provided for the Pizza Hut Express portion of the position. What We're Looking For The right candidate takes ownership of their kitchen. We need someone who notices when something needs to be cleaned, stocked, labeled, organized, or corrected and takes care of it without having to be constantly reminded. This is a hands-on, customer-facing food-service position. Cleaning, sanitation, organization, food safety, and customer service are just as important as cooking. Dependability, professionalism, cleanliness, attention to detail, and a positive attitude toward customers and coworkers are essential.
