Job Description
Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Deli Cook/Clerk, at a Kosher supermarket deli where you'll play a vital role in delivering fresh, delicious food and exceptional customer service. This energetic position combines culinary skills with retail and food service expertise, ensuring our customers enjoy high-quality products in a fast-paced environment. Whether preparing tasty deli items, managing sales transactions, or maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming atmosphere for all. Responsibilities Prepare and assemble a variety of deli foods, including sandwiches, salads, packaged, and hot items, following established recipes and food safety guidelines Operate the scale and labeling machine accurately and efficiently Assist customers with selections, answer questions about products, and promote upselling opportunities to enhance sales Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the deli area, including food handling, bussing tables, and sanitizing work surfaces Ensure proper food storage, rotation, and inventory management to minimize waste and uphold food safety standards Support team members in quick service environments by providing excellent customer service and efficient food preparation Qualifications Prior experience in food preparation and or a deli is preferred Understanding of kosher rules and standards (or willing to learn) Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not required Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during busy hours Knowledge of food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures Excellent customer service skills with the ability to upsell products confidently Experience working in a grocery store or retail environment is advantageous Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting supplies sometimes 50lbs or more.
