About Us Side Hustle Brewing Company operates a 30-barrel production brewery supplying our Bluffton and Hilton Head Island taprooms as well as distribution throughout South Carolina. We produce a wide range of award-winning lagers, IPAs, and specialty beers. Position Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cellar/Packaging Team Member to join our brewing team. This position reports directly to the Head Brewer and involves supporting the brewing process, focusing on cellar operations and packaging activities. This position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in craft brewing and contribute to the production of high-quality beverages. All offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check. Primary Responsibilities Checking active fermentations and conditioning beer. Collecting samples and recording gravity, temperature, pH, pressure, and other required measurements. Performing yeast and trub dumps. Dry hopping and making other cold-side additions. Harvesting yeast and cleaning and sanitizing yeast brinks. Transferring beer between fermenters and brite tanks. Carbonating beer. Cleaning and sanitizing fermenters, brite tanks, hoses, pumps, fittings, and other cellar equipment. Preparing beer and equipment for packaging. Filling and organizing kegs. Setting up, operating, cleaning, and sanitizing the canning line. Monitoring packaging quality and recording finished quantities. Palletizing and organizing finished beer in cold storage. Assisting with finished-goods inventory and distributor-order preparation. Cleaning floors, drains, tank exteriors, walls, cold rooms, and packaging areas. Performing assigned preventive maintenance and reporting equipment problems. Assisting with shipping, receiving, and general brewery organization. Following all brewery safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures. Assisting with other production tasks as needed. Schedule This is a full-time position averaging approximately 40 hours per week. The normal schedule will primarily be Monday through Friday, but starting and finishing times may vary according to production needs. Occasional early-morning, evening, weekend, or holiday work may be required for essential cellar work, packaging, equipment issues, or other time-sensitive production responsibilities. Brewing Opportunities Although the position will initially focus on cellar and packaging responsibilities, it will offer opportunities to learn and participate in brewhouse operations over time. A successful employee may assist with ingredient preparation, milling, brew-day operations, yeast pitching, brewhouse cleanup, and eventually brewing complete batches. The timing and extent of these opportunities will depend on demonstrated proficiency, reliability, performance, and production needs.
