Deli Clerk

JOB ROLE AND SUMMARY

The deli clerk assists shoppers at the deli counter by recommending foods, providing samples of meat and cheeses, cutting, weighing, packing, pricing meats and cheeses and responding to customer requests and inquiries. The deli clerk maintains a clean work area, updates displays and informs customers of promotions and new products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide responsive and exceptional customer service
• Ensure work areas are cleaned- surfaces, equipment, cases, floors, trash removal and all tools
• Follow all regulations regarding food handling and sanitation
• Order and track the inventory needed for the next order
• Prepare special orders and party trays
• Slicing, weighing, packaging, and pricing meat and cheese
• Assist at the meat counter and register when not needed in deli
• Assist with stocking the Store when you have down time
• Performs other duties as assigned

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong time management skills
• Strong work ethics and willingness to learn
• TABC and Food Handler Certificate (Training provided by employer)
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
