Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Baggage Handler, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of luggage within the aviation environment. Your dedication will help maintain safety, organization, and timely baggage processing, contributing directly to a positive travel experience for passengers. Duties Manage the handling and transportation of baggage using appropriate materials handling equipment such as forklifts and carts Supervise the loading and unloading of luggage on aircraft, ensuring compliance with safety regulations including Federal Aviation Regulations Organize and prioritize baggage according to flight schedules, maintaining accurate records of inbound and outbound items Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely, applying mechanical knowledge to operate equipment effectively Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to coordinate baggage flow and resolve any issues promptly Ensure all baggage complies with security standards and airline policies, including proper documentation and tagging Support logistics operations by managing materials handling processes efficiently within warehouse or storage areas Requirements Fluency in Haitian Creole and English to facilitate effective communication across diverse teams and passengers Proven management or supervising experience in logistics, warehouse, or aviation environments Mechanical knowledge coupled with forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire Experience in materials handling, heavy lifting, and operating commercial vehicles such as forklifts or trucks Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations related to baggage handling and safety procedures Excellent customer service skills with a focus on professionalism and clear communication Basic math skills for inventory management and record keeping Multilingual abilities are a plus for engaging with diverse passenger populations Join us in this energetic role where your leadership, technical skills, and dedication will make a tangible difference in airport operations.
