Full-time, Monday-Saturday availability (5-day week within store hours, 10 AM-5 PM) About Us Boca Aquarium is a free, kid-friendly boutique aquarium located inside Diamonds by Raymond Lee in Boca Raton. Our exhibits include a 4,000-gallon cold-water shark and ray display (currently completing a major renovation), 700-gallon reef tanks, a nano reef, and a seahorse sanctuary. We're a small operation with a big mission: making ocean education fun and accessible — in person and online. We're looking for one dedicated professional to take full ownership of animal care, life support, and our aquarium's social media presence. The Role You'll be our in-house aquarist and the face of Boca Aquarium online. You're responsible for the health of all livestock and systems — and for capturing the daily magic of the aquarium (feedings, new arrivals, behind-the-scenes science) and sharing it with our audience on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Responsibilities Animal Care & Life Support Daily water quality testing, dosing, and parameter logging across all systems (cold-water elasmobranch system plus tropical reef and seahorse systems) Feeding all livestock, including sharks, rays, eels, and a large grouper; conducting our public Thursday shark feeding shows Life support maintenance: protein skimmers, chillers, pumps, filtration, plumbing repairs, and equipment troubleshooting Water changes, algae control, glass/acrylic cleaning, aquascaping, and coral care Quarantine, acclimation, and health monitoring of new livestock; identifying and treating disease early Assisting with the commissioning and stocking of our renovated 4,000-gallon shark display Content & Community Recording short-form video content daily/weekly: feedings, tank maintenance, creature features, behind-the-scenes science Editing and uploading content to the aquarium's Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube accounts Maintaining and growing the accounts: captions, posting schedule, responding to comments and DMs Interacting with guests and school groups on camera and off Requirements 3+ years of professional experience maintaining large saltwater systems (public aquarium, commercial aquarium service, or advanced husbandry role) Hands-on experience with elasmobranchs (sharks/rays) strongly preferred; cold-water system experience a major plus Degree in marine biology, zoology, or related field preferred — equivalent professional experience considered Strong working knowledge of life support systems, water chemistry, and disease diagnosis/treatment Comfortable on camera and experienced with short-form video (phone filming/editing is fine — CapCut-level skills are all we need; show us an account you've run or content you've made) Comfortable working independently and being the sole owner of animal welfare Comfortable speaking with guests, including kids
