This is a skilled trade opportunity for someone who is dependable, committed to learning, and interested in developing specialized milling skills. Milling is a trade that takes time and hands-on training to master. The ideal candidate will have a strong work history, a demonstrated commitment to previous employers, and the ability and willingness to learn a skilled trade.

Milling Apprentice Job Summary:

Starting Pay:

$22/hr

Night Shift:

6:00 PM-6:00 AM

Schedule:

4 days on / 4 days off

• Train on nights while learning the milling process and equipment
• Monitor the complete milling system to ensure efficient operation and quality finished product
• Measure and record milling process parameters
• Monitor and document metal detector, magnet, and sifter findings
• Perform assigned cleaning, maintenance, and general mill upkeep
• Assist with packing operations when needed
• Identify and communicate opportunities for facility and system improvements
• Participate in workplace safety and food safety training
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures
• Report food safety, sanitation, or equipment concerns
• Observe and report unusual activity related to site security
• Perform other duties as assigned

Milling Apprentice Qualifications & Physical Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong work history with a demonstrated commitment to previous employers
• Ability and willingness to learn a skilled trade
• Must be willing and able to successfully complete the IAOM milling correspondence course and KSU milling short course
• Microsoft Office knowledge preferred
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed procedures
• Willingness to work occasional weekends, other shifts, or extended hours as needed
• Ability to frequently walk, climb, bend, reach, and use stairs and ladders
• Ability to safely work from ladders
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Comfortable performing general cleaning, maintenance, and repair activities
• Ability to work around moderate noise and occasional airborne particles
