Job Description

Buttonwood Grove Winery is a family owned and operated winery on Cayuga Lake. Buttonwood Grove winery has established a reputation for producing some of the most noteworthy wines in the Finger Lakes, as well as hosting exceptional events. When the unique opportunity arose to purchase the beautiful Buttonwood property in early 2014, Dave and Melissa Pittard leapt at the opportunity. Since their purchase of the winery, they have greatly expanded the vineyards and completed the construction of a new wine-making building, along with upgrades to the on-site cabins and implementation of a full summer music series. In 2017, their efforts led to being awarded the Governor's Cup, designating the 2016 Riesling as the Best Wine in New York State. We are seeking enthusiastic tasting room educators, who are proactive in providing an excellent wine tasting experience and superb customer service. You should be able to work independently and as a team player.
Applicants should be:
willing to learn ambitious dependable energetic honest responsible and dedicated to continuing the high level of personal service Prospective hire will be a self-starter, a "people person", able to lift 40 pounds, have flexible scheduling-- weekends are a MUST. We are currently hiring for part-time seasonal associates.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Greet and properly serve guests. Learn the Buttonwood Grove Winery story and wine making process in order to knowledgeably share with our visitors and guests. Inform and educate through describing wines, wine-making and winery & regional history. Sell wines by educating and assisting the customer in making purchasing decisions. Promote and sell elevated tasting experiences, Wine Club memberships and special events at the winery. Perform accurate POS transactions and money handling. Perform daily cleaning and facility duties. Minor food prep/plating of food served with tasting. Assist with special events and elevated private tasting experiences on premise Other duties assigned by the Tasting Room & General Manager.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
1+ years of winery, hospitality, customer service, or a relevant retail sales position. Knowledgeable about wine and tasting room operations. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
Pay:
$16.00 per hour
