Position Overview VK Brewing Co. & Eatery is growing and looking for a Brewer / Assistant Brewer to help produce high-quality, locally brewed craft beer for our customers. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for craft beer production. The successful candidate will assist with brewing operations, maintain brewing equipment, ensure product quality, and follow all safety and sanitation standards. The role involves hands-on production work and collaboration with the brewing team to maintain consistent beer quality and assist with new beer development. Brewing at VK is hands-on production work that requires attention to detail, cleanliness, and consistency . A large part of the role involves cleaning, sanitation, equipment preparation, and maintaining an organized brewery. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a well-run brewery and producing high-quality beer every time. This role reports directly to the Head Brewer and supports a small team environment where flexibility, reliability, and a positive attitude are essential. Duties & Responsibilities Production of wort including milling, mashing, boiling, fermenting, and cleaning the brewhouse. Prepare brewing ingredients and equipment for brew day. Follow production schedules for brewery tasks including brewing, dry hopping, transferring, monitoring fermentation, carbonating, and kegging beer. Maintain accurate brewer's logs and production records. Perform brewery cleaning and preventative maintenance. Sanitize all brewing equipment and brewery facilities. Ensure all beers are produced in adherence to standardized operating procedures (SOPs). Monitor fermentation progress and maintain beer quality standards. Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs to the Head Brewer. Track inventory of brewing ingredients, equipment, and supplies. Assist with restocking and replenishing brewing supplies. Assist restaurant staff in understanding and representing our beers. Interact with customers and represent the brewery in a positive and professional manner. Participate in off-site events, beer festivals, and promotional activities as needed. Assist with additional brewery tasks as assigned. Cleaning and sanitation are critical to brewery operations and represent a significant portion of the daily workload. Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements Must be at least 21 years of age . Positive attitude with a strong work ethic. Honest, dependable, and responsible. Basic knowledge of brewing processes; prior brewing experience is preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability. Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions. Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and brewery needs. Capability to understand, follow, maintain, and improve SOPs. Ability to work independently while remaining a collaborative team member. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain a clean, safe, organized, and efficient brewery. Our goal is to leave the brewery "tour ready" at the end of each workday . Willingness to continue learning and developing brewing knowledge. Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as production and events require. Reliable transportation and consistent punctual attendance are essential for this role. Flexibility to support production schedules and brewery operations as needed. Basic knowledge of food safety and workplace safety. Basic knowledge of chemical handling and sanitation procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly. Ability to move up to 165 pounds using proper equipment. Ability to twist, bend, stoop, and climb as required in a brewery environment. Ability to work standing or walking for extended periods. Ability to work safely around hot liquids, pressurized equipment, wet floors, and cleaning chemicals. Work Environment The brewery environment includes hot liquids, pressurized equipment, cleaning chemicals, loud machinery, and wet surfaces. Employees must maintain awareness of safety procedures and follow all brewery safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Brew days often begin early in the morning and require consistent punctual attendance in order to maintain production schedules.
