As the first and final point of contact for our guests, the Fine Dining Host/Hostess plays an important role in setting the tone for the entire dining experience. The Fine Dining Host/Hostess serves as the first and final point of hospitality for our guests and plays an essential role in creating the Itta Bena dining experience. This position is responsible for providing a warm, polished, and professional welcome from the moment each guest arrives. The Host/Hostess greets and seats guests, presents clean and current menus, manages reservations and the flow of the dining room, and communicates effectively with guests, servers, bartenders, and management. They anticipate guest needs, respond professionally to questions and special requests, and help ensure each guest receives attentive and personalized service. Throughout the dining experience, the Host/Hostess maintains awareness of table availability, reservation times, guest preferences, and overall dining room activity. Upon departure, every guest should receive a sincere thank-you and warm invitation to return. The ideal candidate is poised, personable, organized, attentive to detail, and able to remain composed in a fast-paced fine dining environment. Above all, the Host/Hostess represents the hospitality, professionalism, and elevated service standards of Itta Bena. Escort and seat guests in a professional and timely manner while presenting clean and current menus. Manage reservations, walk-ins, waitlists, and guest information using OpenTable and established restaurant procedures. Confirm reservations and accurately communicate reservation details, special requests, celebrations, large parties, and other important guest information. Manage the dining room floor plan and strategically seat guests to maintain balanced server sections and efficient service flow. Monitor table status throughout service, including available, occupied, dirty, reserved, and resetting tables. Accurately estimate and communicate wait times when immediate seating is unavailable. Maintain awareness of reservation times and dining room activity to assist with proper pacing and avoid unnecessary double- or triple-seating of service sections. Communicate continuously with servers, bartenders, managers, and other FOH team members regarding seating, reservations, guest requests, and dining room needs. Anticipate guest needs and respond professionally to questions, concerns, and special requests. Answer telephone calls using professional language and provide accurate information regarding reservations, restaurant hours, menu offerings, events, and general restaurant information. Maintain a clean, organized, properly stocked, and professional host stand at all times. Clean, organize, inspect, and stock menus as necessary. Assist with to-go orders when applicable. Assist servers and other FOH team members when necessary to maintain the overall guest experience. Support the team with food running, table maintenance, silverware preparation, and other service needs during peak periods. Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the foyer, entrance, restrooms, and other guest-facing areas. Collect cover charges when applicable and follow established cash-handling procedures. Organize, stock, display, and sell retail merchandise when applicable. Complete assigned opening, closing, and side-work duties thoroughly and on time. Report to work on time, in proper uniform, and meeting all established grooming and personal hygiene standards. Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and communication style throughout the shift. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Work Environment This position operates in an active fine dining restaurant and bar environment. The work environment may occasionally be loud, particularly during peak service periods and live entertainment. Because the host stand is located near the restaurant entrance, the work area may experience temperature changes or drafts as guests enter and exit. Restaurant hazards may include, but are not limited to, wet floors, hot surfaces, crowded service areas, slipping, and tripping hazards. Employees are expected to remain aware of their surroundings and follow established safety procedures. Physical Demands The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. The employee must be able to: Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. Bend, kneel, stoop, reach, and crouch as necessary. Occasionally lift or move products weighing up to 35 pounds. Communicate clearly and listen effectively in an active restaurant environment. Read and write sufficiently to manage reservations, guest information, and restaurant procedures. Visually monitor the dining room and identify clean, occupied, reserved, and available tables. Calculate and communicate estimated wait times using established restaurant procedures. Position Type / Expected Hours This position requires schedule flexibility based on restaurant business levels. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required. Shifts may include extended periods of standing and may vary according to reservations, special events, live entertainment, and overall business volume. Travel No regular travel is expected for this position. Required Education & Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Previous restaurant, hospitality, customer-service, or guest-service experience. Basic understanding of restaurant service and professional guest interaction. Ability to communicate professionally with guests and coworkers. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Preferred Experience 1-3 years of host/hostess, upscale restaurant, fine dining, hotel, casino, or comparable hospitality experience. Previous experience using OpenTable or another reservation-management system. Experience managing reservations, waitlists, dining room seating, and table rotation. Experience delivering elevated or luxury-level guest service. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. Must maintain any applicable state-required health and/or alcohol compliance credentials. Must meet company grooming, uniform, attendance, and professional conduct standards. Work Authorization / Security Requirements Must provide valid identification and documentation necessary to complete Form I-9 and employment verification requirements. Tribal Gaming Badge required for applicable Alabama units and paid for by the employee, in accordance with company requirements.
