Griffin's Kitchen & Bar in Brea, CA We are seeking an energetic and organized Lead Host / Floor Supervisor to act as the primary ambassador of our restaurant's guest experience. This hybrid role combines high-profile guest relations with first-level shift leadership. You will be responsible for orchestrating the flow of the dining room floor, managing the host team, and jumping in to handle guest needs dynamically during peak service hours. The ideal candidate balances excellent hospitality skills with the operational mindset required to manage table rotations, support service staff, and maintain high standards of service. Key Responsibilities Front-of-House Leadership & Guest Relations Greet and welcome arriving guests with a high level of professional hospitality. Manage reservations and walk-ins utilizing OpenTable. Optimize table rotations to ensure maximum seating capacity and steady kitchen workflow. Handle complaints and service hitches with professional, real-time resolution tactics. Escort guests to tables while distributing menus and introducing the initial dining features. Floor Supervision & Staff Support Lead shift briefings to communicate daily specials, floor assignments, and VIP bookings. Supervise host staff by overseeing their scheduling, breaks, and daily performance. Train new hires on hosting protocols, reservation software, and phone etiquette. Conduct table touches during service to gauge guest satisfaction and assist floor staff. Support service teams by assisting with food running, table clearing, or order entry when necessary. Operations & Compliance Maintain entryway hygiene by keeping the host stand and enterance immaculate. Monitor floor cleanliness including dining rooms, restrooms, and service stations. Verify opening/closing tasks are fully completed by the front-of-house support team. Enforce safety rules regarding health codes, food safety, and alcohol service guidelines.
Skills & Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 2 years of restaurant hosting experience, with 1+ years in a senior or supervisory role.
Tech Savvy:
Proficient with major restaurant reservation systems and modern Point of Sale (POS) software.
Communication:
Strong verbal communication skills for navigating both guest interactions and staff management.
Stamina:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8+ hours) while managing a high-volume floor.
Flexibility:
