Evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed About The Speakeasy Murder The Speakeasy Murder is an immersive 1920s-themed murder-mystery dinner experience combining live entertainment, dining, and interactive guest engagement. We are seeking an outgoing, dependable, and sales-focused Themed Retail Host to create memorable guest interactions while overseeing our onsite merchandise operation. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, thrives in a theatrical environment, and can confidently promote merchandise while maintaining excellent presentation and organization. Position Summary The Themed Retail Host is responsible for operating the merchandise area before and after performances, assisting guests with purchases, maintaining product displays, and helping extend the immersive Speakeasy Murder experience beyond the show. The ideal candidate will be friendly, energetic, polished, and comfortable initiating conversations with guests. This position requires strong customer-service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately process sales through a point-of-sale system. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Welcome guests warmly and provide friendly, engaging service. Maintain a polished, professional presence consistent with the 1920s speakeasy theme. Promote and sell Speakeasy Murder merchandise before and after performances. Explain available products, pricing, sizes, and special merchandise offers. Make product recommendations and encourage additional purchases without using aggressive sales tactics. Accurately process cash, credit card, and digital transactions using the company's point-of-sale system. Follow all company procedures regarding cash handling, receipts, discounts, refunds, and transaction accuracy. Set up the retail area before guests arrive and secure merchandise at the conclusion of the evening. Keep displays attractive, organized, clean, fully stocked, and guest-ready. Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock, damaged, or missing merchandise to management. Assist with merchandise counts and inventory reconciliation. Restock merchandise and properly organize back-stock items. Maintain accurate knowledge of current products, promotions, and pricing. Answer general questions about the show, venue, merchandise, and guest experience. Direct operational, ticketing, or booking questions to the appropriate team member. Work closely with the House Manager, Guest Services, Box Office, and other onsite team members. Assist with guest flow and other front-of-house responsibilities when needed. Follow all safety, security, loss-prevention, and company policies. Complete additional duties reasonably assigned by management. Qualifications Previous retail, sales, hospitality, attraction, theatre, or guest-service experience is preferred. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, confident, and comfortable approaching and engaging guests. Ability to provide excellent service in a fast-paced entertainment environment. Basic cash-handling and mathematical skills. Ability to learn and operate a point-of-sale system. Strong attention to detail and commitment to transaction accuracy. Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently. Ability to maintain professionalism while staying in theme. Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to recommend products naturally. Must work well as part of a collaborative team. Must be at least 18 years old. Schedule and Availability This is an event-based position. Most shifts take place during evening performances. Candidates must have reliable availability for: Weekday and weekend evenings Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays Holidays and special events as scheduled Occasional training sessions or company meetings Scheduling is based on performance dates, attendance levels, and operational needs. Weekly hours may vary. Physical Requirements Candidates must be able to: Stand and walk for the majority of the scheduled shift. Lift, carry, and move merchandise or supply containers weighing up to 30 pounds. Bend, reach, and assist with setting up or breaking down merchandise displays. Work in an active entertainment and dining environment with music, crowds, and changing activity levels. Communicate clearly with guests and team members in a moderately loud environment. Dress and Appearance The Themed Retail Host will be required to wear company issued costuming consistent with the show's 1920s speakeasy theme. Employees are expected to maintain a polished, clean, and professional appearance while representing The Speakeasy Murder.
