We're seeking individuals who share our core values, have a genuine passion for hospitality, are team-oriented, and can remain composed, welcoming, and organized in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Host plays an essential role in creating a positive first and lasting impression for every guest. As one of the first points of contact, the Host sets the tone for the guest experience through warmth, professionalism, clear communication, and attention to detail. This position works closely with Management, Cashiers, Runners, and other FOH team members to maintain smooth guest flow and an organized café environment.

Greet every guest warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure. Create a welcoming and positive first impression while maintaining a friendly and approachable presence. Manage the host stand and maintain an organized and efficient guest flow. Assist guests with seating and ensure tables are properly prepared before seating. Maintain awareness of table availability, pacing, and overall café capacity. Communicate effectively with Management and the FOH team regarding guest flow, table status, and service needs. Manage waitlists and communicate accurate wait times to guests when applicable. Assist guests with questions regarding the café, menu, seating, and general experience. Maintain strong knowledge of the food and beverage menu, including ingredients, modifiers, and common allergens. Provide thoughtful menu guidance and recommendations when appropriate. Assist with reservations, special requests, VIP guests, and special service moments when needed. Monitor the dining area and communicate with the appropriate team members regarding tables that need attention. Help maintain a smooth transition between guests, including coordinating table turnover with the FOH team. Address guest concerns professionally and involve Management when necessary. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional host stand and entrance area. Complete opening and closing duties according to established checklists. Assist with side work, including stocking, cleaning, sweeping, resetting tables, and general café upkeep. Support Cashiers, Runners / Bussers, and other FOH team members as needed. Remain attentive to guests throughout their visit and look for opportunities to provide thoughtful service. Assist in maintaining a positive and organized environment during high-volume periods. Contribute to a positive community presence and consistently uphold Dialog Café's standards. Assist Management with VIP guests, special requests, and elevated service needs to ensure a seamless and personalized guest experience. Conduct regular table touches throughout service to check in with guests, anticipate their needs, and ensure overall guest satisfaction. Communicate guest feedback, requests, or concerns to Management and the appropriate FOH team members in a timely manner. Required Qualifications & Skills High School Diploma or GED. Prior hospitality, restaurant, café, or customer service experience preferred. Valid Food Handler's Certificate and ABC License. Strong understanding of hospitality and guest service standards. Warm, friendly, and professional demeanor. Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast-paced environment. Strong situational awareness and ability to anticipate guest and team needs. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities effectively. Strong attention to detail and organization. Ability to communicate clearly with guests, Management, and fellow team members. Comfortable standing and being active for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
