Job Summary:
As the first point of contact, our Hosts set the tone for every guest experience. At Sogno Toscano, Hosts are not only greeters — they are market ambassadors, helping guests discover everything we offer from Oils to Lamp Shades to Plates and so much more.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome customers as they arrive and provide a warm and friendly first impression.
- Manage reservations, either over the phone or through an online system, and organize the seating chart accordingly.
- Escort guests to their tables, ensuring they're seated comfortably and efficiently based on the availability of tables and guest preferences.
- If the restaurant is full, manage a waitlist, informing guests about estimated wait times, and offering them a seat at the bar or another area if needed.
- Help guests with special needs or requests, such as dietary restrictions, highchairs, or specific seating preferences.
- Communicate with the kitchen and servers to make sure guests are seated and served promptly, and that any issues are handled quickly.
- Keep the front area clean and organized, including menus, waiting area, host stand and décor.
- Ensure the seating area is well-balanced; ensure servers aren't overwhelmed by too many tables at once and spread them evenly in each section.
- If no one is at the host stand waiting to be served, a host is asked to bring the water at the table right away, asking each table their water preference upon arrival and letting the busser/server know.
- Must know all the dishes on the menu, including ingredients, prices and allergies.
- Provide support to servers and the FOH team as needed
- If there is a market at your assigned location, introduce guests to our concept: restaurant, wine & coffee bar, and Italian market
- Be knowledgeable about our market products, from olive oils to wines, and guide guests toward exploring the retail space.
- Bag all to‑go orders accurately and promptly, ensuring items are packaged correctly and ready for guest pickup.
- Complete all assigned daily checklists in full and obtain supervisor or manager approval before concluding your shift.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Employees must arrive in and wear the proper uniform assigned to their position. Staff will not be permitted to clock in unless they are in full, compliant uniform.
- No personal phone usage is permitted while on duty.
Phone use is only allowed if a manager has approved it due to an emergency. Our Manhattan Beach grand opening date is still to be determined, but will likely be on October 20, 2026. Until the new location opens, all training will take place at our Santa Monica and The Grove (Los Angeles) locations.
Pay:
