Job Description

Beta Tester - Local Host Redding, California | Approximately 2 Hours Per Week About Local Host Local Host is a new community-focused platform launching in Redding, California in late September . We believe some of the best experiences in a city are already there. People simply need a better way to find them. Our goal is to create a platform that feels genuinely local, useful, welcoming, and easy to use for both the people discovering what is happening in Redding and the local hosts and businesses creating those experiences. Redding is the community Local Host is built for. Local Host is being built specifically for the Redding community, helping people discover local experiences, events, businesses, opportunities, and things happening around them. With our official launch coming in late September , we are looking for a small group of Beta Testers to help us test the platform before it becomes publicly available across the Redding community. About the Role This is a lightweight beta testing opportunity requiring approximately two hours per week . You will use Local Host as new features are released and provide feedback on what works, what feels confusing, and what could make the experience better. As our platform develops, testers may help us test: New local event listings Event discovery and search experiences Our upcoming booking portal Registration and booking workflows New pages and platform features Mobile and desktop experiences Buttons, forms, links, and navigation Confirmation emails and user communications Newly added events and experiences throughout the Redding area You may also occasionally be asked to try completing a specific task and tell us what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and whether anything felt unclear. What We Are Looking For You do not need to be a software developer or professional QA tester. In fact, we are especially interested in hearing from everyday users because Local Host is being created for everyday people in Redding. You may be a great fit if you: Live in Redding area Enjoy discovering local businesses, events, food, activities, or experiences Are comfortable navigating websites on your phone or computer Notice when something feels confusing or difficult to use Can explain problems clearly Are willing to give thoughtful and honest feedback Can commit approximately two hours each week Are excited about helping shape something being built specifically for the Redding community Why We Are Doing This Local Host is being built with a simple belief: Local communities deserve technology that actually feels local. We do not want to build the entire experience behind closed doors and assume we understand how people in Redding will use it. We want real people in the community using the platform while we build it. With our late September launch approaching , this beta period is an important part of making sure Local Host is ready for Redding. Your feedback may influence everything from how someone discovers a local event to how our booking experience works, what information appears on an event page, and how easily someone can find something worth doing nearby. As we continue adding events and developing the Local Host booking portal, our Beta Testers will be some of the first people to experience and help improve those features before the platform officially launches. What You Can Expect Beta testing will generally require around two hours per week . Testing assignments will vary as the platform develops. Some weeks may involve exploring newly added events. Other weeks may involve testing a new booking feature, completing a specific user journey, or reviewing an updated section of the website. Because Local Host is actively being developed ahead of our late September launch in Redding , you should expect to occasionally encounter unfinished features or things that do not work perfectly. Finding those moments is part of the job. Help Us Get Local Host Ready for Redding We are passionate about creating something that supports the people, businesses, hosts, creators, and experiences that make Redding feel like home. Local Host is being built for Redding, and we are preparing to officially launch the platform to the community in late September . If you enjoy discovering what is happening around you, like trying new technology, and would enjoy having a small role in helping us make Local Host better before launch, we would love to hear from you.
