Role:
To greet and escort guests to tables in the restaurant and maintain menu cleanliness. Maintains courteous and efficient operation of the dining room to ensure guest satisfaction. Assisting guests with to-go orders.
Essential Functions:
Meets and greets guests as they arrive, offering a choice of seating, then escorting them to their table and assisting with chairs. Presents menus, informs guest of their server's name, and wishes them an enjoyable meal. Maintains proper set-up of dining room, reviews reservations for special needs, arranges floor plan, maintains cover count sheet and seating distribution to ensure guest satisfaction. Records the details of the phone to-go orders from the guests into Micros and repeats the order to the guest for accuracy. Answers reservations calls accurately, recording these in the reservation book. Thanks guests and wish them a good day or evening.
Supportive Functions:
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, at the discretion of the manager based on the particular requirements of the hotel. Maintains an open line of communication between guests, management, and line employees. Carries coffee and/or tea pots throughout Outlet, refilling guests cups as requested. Performs other duties, as requested, such as cleaning, bussing tables, assisting with side duties.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Knowledge of restaurant operations, to include appropriate staffing levels, service equipment, and guest relations. Ability to read the English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, reservations, promotional materials, event orders, and similar written materials. Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items. Ability to move throughout a crowded room to seat guests. Must be able to walk and stand for an extended period of time. Ability to effectively deal with customer complaints and concerns in a friendly and positive manner. This involves listening to the nature of the concern, demonstrating empathy with the customer, and providing positive and proactive solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. High school diploma preferred.
Experience:
Prior host experience preferred.
Licenses and Certificates:
Ability to obtain any government required licenses or certificates. CPR Certification and/or First Aid training preferred. More about the
