Overview A Hospital Host/Hostess provides friendly and professional service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff. They may assist with meal and beverage service, welcome and communicate with patients, help maintain a clean and comfortable dining or patient-service area, and ensure that patients receive the appropriate meals according to their dietary requirements. Responsibilities Welcome and assist patients, visitors, and hospital staff in a courteous manner. Serve meals and beverages to patients according to the prescribed meal schedule and dietary instructions. Verify patient information and meal selections before serving. Follow special dietary requirements and food allergy precautions. Deliver meals safely and promptly to patient rooms or designated areas. Collect trays, dishes, and utensils after meals. Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas. Assist patients who may need help with meal setup, while respecting their independence and privacy. Communicate patient concerns or meal-related issues to nurses, dietitians, or food-service supervisors. Follow hospital policies regarding hygiene, infection control, food safety, and patient confidentiality. Provide excellent customer service and respond professionally to patient requests. Assist the kitchen or food-service team with basic preparation, stocking, and other duties as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Previous experience in hospitality, food service, customer service, or healthcare is an advantage. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Friendly, patient, respectful, and compassionate attitude. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and carry meal trays or supplies as required. Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
