Job Description

Hebrew SeniorLife, a Harvard Medical School-affiliated nonprofit, seeks Host Staff to create a warm, organized dining experience for older adults. You'll greet and seat residents and guests, manage reservations and table flow, communicate dietary needs to the care and culinary teams, and support safe, timely meal service. In this collaborative, mission-driven environment, you'll build meaningful relationships with seniors, uphold dignity and inclusion, receive training in customer service and aging, and contribute to innovative, person-centered senior care every day. Responsibilities Welcome and seat residents and guests in the dining room with warmth and professionalism Maintain accurate waitlists, reservations, and table assignments Communicate special dietary needs and preferences to dining and clinical teams Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure timely, safe meal service Assist residents with mobility or accessibility needs as they enter and exit the dining area Maintain cleanliness and organization of hostess stand and dining entrance Support infection control, safety, and privacy standards in all interactions Provide courteous, prompt responses to resident and family questions or concerns Assist with setup and breakdown for meals and special events Participate in ongoing training on customer service, dementia awareness, and elder care Required Skills Customer service Front-of-house operations Reservation and seating management Basic POS or dining software use Clear verbal communication Understanding of senior/elder care needs Knowledge of basic infection control practices Conflict de-escalation Team collaboration in healthcare setting Basic safety and emergency awareness
