Host/Hostess Golden Palace Buffet - 3.0 Livonia, MI Job Details Full-time From $14 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Serving Customer communication Food service customer order management Payment processing in food service Cleaning messes in dining areas Full Job Description Host / Hostess - Buffet Restaurant Position Summary The Host/Hostess is responsible for welcoming customers, seating guests, and providing friendly customer service throughout their visit. Because customers pay before being seated, the Host/Hostess plays an important role in keeping the front entrance organized and making sure guests are seated quickly and correctly. The Host/Hostess may also assist with taking customer orders, processing payments, preparing or delivering drinks, answering customer questions, and helping maintain a clean and welcoming dining environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities ☐ Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner ☐ Assist customers with the check-in, ordering, and payment process ☐ Process credit card transactions ☐ Ask customers about seating preferences ☐ Seat customers at appropriate clean and available tables ☐ Keep track of available tables and help maintain an organized seating flow ☐ Take customer orders when necessary, including drink or special-menu orders ☐ Prepare, refill, or deliver beverages to customers as needed ☐ Explain buffet procedures, pricing, menu options, and restaurant policies to customers ☐ Answer basic customer questions and provide general assistance ☐ Communicate customer requests or concerns to servers, managers, or other team members ☐ Keep the host/cashier area clean, organized, and presentable ☐ Monitor the entrance and dining area for customers who need assistance ☐ Assist other front-of-house employees during busy periods ☐ Follow restaurant cleanliness, food-safety, cash-handling, and customer-service procedures ☐ Complete other reasonable duties assigned by management Skills & Qualifications ☐ Friendly, welcoming, and positive attitude ☐ Good customer-service skills ☐ Able to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers ☐ Comfortable speaking with and assisting many different types of customers ☐ Able to use or learn a POS (point-of-sales) system ☐ Able to stay organized during busy periods ☐ Able to remember customer's seating ☐ Able to multitask between seating customers, payments, orders, drinks, and customer requests ☐ Able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy ☐ Dependable and punctual ☐ Able to work well as part of a team ☐ Able to remain polite and professional when handling customer complaints or difficult situations ☐ Willing to help coworkers when needed ☐ Good attention to cleanliness and presentation Physical & Work Requirements ☐ Able to stand and walk for extended periods during a shift ☐ Able to move throughout the restaurant frequently ☐ Able to carry drink trays, cups, menus, and other light restaurant items ☐ Able to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment ☐ Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on scheduling needs What We Look For A successful Host/Hostess is friendly, attentive, dependable, and able to handle several responsibilities at once.
