Job Description

Summary :
Greets and seats customers in a fashion that contributes to the smooth, efficient operation and keeps the area around the front entrance and hostess station as clean and orderly as possible by performing the following duties. Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Meets arriving customers as they enter with cordial greeting.
  • Escorts to assigned areas and solicits rapport in order to accommodate special needs or requests.
  • Notifies servers of new seats in their section to ensure the customers receive immediate and proper attention.
  • Maintains a highly visible appearance during entire shift by remaining at the hostess stand.
  • Elicits business off-property by handing out fliers.
  • Works as coat-check attendant.
  • Maintains a clean hostess stand by assisting with vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning, and side work duties.
  • Checks the proper set-up of tables and seating prior to opening.
  • Reports in writing any maintenance or housekeeping discrepancies to management immediately.
  • Exhibits a professional appearance and maintains a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, requested, or deemed necessary by management.

Language Ability :
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability :
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills :
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of internet software.
Education/Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
