GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As a Tacos and Avocados Host, you must make our guests feel welcome. You are the first person to greet the guest when they arrive and the last smile they should see on the way out. You should provide a cheery greeting and make each shift and every guest feel special. For some, it will be their first time visiting Tacos and Avocados, so it is up to you to make them feel at ease. Whatever the reason for their visit, you are the host that sets the tone. You should be able to answer all questions and fulfill their needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Complete all opening duties, during shift duties, and closing duties. 2. Greet guests sincerely and warmly and open the door for arriving and departing guests. 3. Manage the wait list and quote accurate wait times. 4. Seat guests comfortably, rotating sections evenly and accommodating guest seating requests whenever possible. 5. Inform the server when a new guest has been seated in their section. 6. Answer the phone promptly and politely, take to-go orders accurately, and answer guest questions about the restaurant. 7. Know and understand the Tacos and Avocados concept and menu. 8. Assist with tidying and resetting tables so the dining area stays neat and pleasant. 9. Rearrange the dining area to accommodate larger groups and prepare the restaurant for special events. 10. Keep the host stand, entry area, and restrooms clean, stocked, and organized. 11. Sweep and mop floors as needed. 12. Thank every guest on the way out and invite them back. 13. Have high energy and be a self-motivated team member. 14. Be a team player! 15. EXPERIENCE
No education is needed to start as a host, and much of what you will learn will be through Tacos and Avocados training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate in the English language. Must be able to read and understand the menu, utilize a computerized reservation, wait list, and register system, and answer the telephone professionally. Must be able to communicate effectively with guests.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must attend orientation and agree to policies and procedures as outlined in the host training book. Must attend and successfully complete the training program prior to working a shift without supervision. Must successfully attend and complete any and all other required training in compliance with local and state regulations, such as food and/or alcohol service certifications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
As a host with Tacos and Avocados, you will be walking or standing throughout your shift. You may also be required to carry, pull, and push up to 25 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role. While performing the duties of this role, the Team Member is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles from the kitchen. The Team Member is also occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, when in the dish area or walk-in cooler, and sometimes uses toxic or caustic chemicals when cleaning. The noise level in the restaurant is usually loud. Some locations have outdoor smoking areas for guests, and therefore Team Members may be exposed to cigarette or cigar smoke.
