Host/Hostess Summary:

As a host/hostess, you will provide guests with a friendly greeting and will seat them promptly. You will also assist servers and provide customer support via the telephone.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Greet and seat guests Provide guests with menus and tableware, if needed Maintain a waiting list for seating Answer the telephone and accept reservations Let customers know about restaurant specialties and promotions Coordinate servers and bussers to ensure customers receive the highest level of service possible Assist servers with their responsibilities as necessary Additional responsibilities as assigned or requested by management

Qualifications:

Knowledge of or experience with providing customer service, specifically in the hospitality industry Excellent speaking and listening skills A friendly, warm, and outgoing personality Ability to stand for long periods of time Excellent organization and time management skills Be able to monitor the environment for signs of problems that need to be addressed (i. e. tables needing to be cleaned, intoxicated patrons, etc.) Work Environment The host/hostess will working in the front of the restaurant near the entrance in a full-service restaurant. They are expected to feel comfortable communicating and working with a diverse group of customers and co-workers.
