Job Description
About the Role We're looking for a friendly, sharp-eyed individual to serve as the first point of contact for our guests. This dual-purpose role combines the warmth of a host with the vigilance of a security/ID verification specialist. You'll be the face of our venue — greeting guests, checking identification to confirm everyone is 21+, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for staff and patrons alike. Key Responsibilities Greet guests warmly at the entrance and manage the flow of foot traffic during peak hours Check and verify government-issued photo ID for every guest to confirm they meet the legal drinking age (21+) Identify fake, altered, or expired IDs and know when/how to politely deny entry Monitor entrances/exits and maintain an accurate count of guests when required for capacity limits De-escalate situations calmly and professionally; alert management or additional security when needed Maintain a visible, approachable presence that discourages disruptive behavior Communicate wait times, reservation info, or venue policies to guests as needed Coordinate with bartenders, servers, and management regarding overserved or underage guests Keep the entry area organized, clean, and welcoming Document incidents (denied entry, confrontations, confiscated IDs) per venue policy Qualifications Must be 21 years of age or older Prior experience in security, bouncing, hosting, or customer service preferred Strong ability to read and detect fraudulent IDs (training provided if needed) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — comfortable with both friendly greetings and firm boundaries Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure or with difficult guests Reliable, punctual, and able to stand for extended periods Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays Physical Requirements Able to stand/walk for full shift duration Comfortable working near entrances exposed to weather (if applicable) Able to react quickly and assist with crowd control if necessary
