Job Description

Wedding DJ & Event Host Be the Person Who Makes the Room Come Alive. Some people walk into a room and immediately connect with everyone. They have energy. They can read people. They're comfortable taking the microphone. They know how to make people laugh, get people moving, and keep things under control when the unexpected happens. That's who we're looking for. Sound Sensations Entertainment is one of Northeast Wisconsin's premier wedding and event entertainment companies. We produce hundreds of weddings and events every year, and we're looking for confident, personable, dependable people who want to learn how to become exceptional DJs and Event Hosts. You don't need years of DJ experience. You do need the personality, professionalism, and work ethic to become great at it. What You'll Do As a Wedding DJ & Event Host, you'll be responsible for helping create an incredible experience from the first announcement to the final song.
You'll:
Host weddings, school dances, corporate events, and private parties Make announcements and confidently communicate with guests Keep the event timeline moving smoothly Read the room and adjust the energy throughout the night Select and program music that keeps guests engaged and dancing Work closely with couples, photographers, planners, venue staff, and other vendors Set up and operate professional sound and lighting equipment Handle unexpected situations calmly and professionally Represent Sound Sensations at some of the most important events in our clients' lives Create an experience guests will remember long after the event is over You're not just playing music. You're responsible for the experience. No DJ Experience? That's OK. We have successfully trained DJs who started with little or no professional DJ experience. Our paid training program teaches you the technical and performance skills you need, including: DJ fundamentals Professional MC and microphone skills Wedding reception timelines Music programming and song selection Reading and responding to a crowd Equipment setup and operation Client communication Event coordination Professionalism and problem-solving If you already have DJ or event experience, we'll evaluate your background and may be able to accelerate your training. What matters most is your ability to connect with people, communicate confidently, learn quickly, and deliver an exceptional experience. This Job Is a Great Fit If... What We Expect From You This is a performance-based position, and our clients are trusting us with some of the most important celebrations of their lives.
Successful DJs/Event Hosts are:
Reliable and punctual Professional and well-presented Confident communicating with groups Comfortable using a microphone Coachable and willing to practice Organized and detail-oriented Positive and energetic Calm under pressure Respectful of clients and fellow vendors Willing to take ownership of the event Available for a consistent number of weekend events Requirements Must be 18 or older Preferred applicants reside within 1 hour of Oshkosh WI. area Valid driver's license Reliable transportation Authorized to work in the U.S. Available for a significant number of Friday and Saturday events during wedding season Able to lift and transport approximately 35 lbs. of equipment Professional appearance and demeanor What You'll Get Paid training Competitive pay: $300-$600 per event , depending on role, experience, and event responsibilities Opportunities to advance into higher-level DJ, MC, and leadership roles Ongoing coaching and mentorship Referral program Tuition reimbursement A flexible part-time schedule built primarily around weekend events The opportunity to work at some of Northeast Wisconsin's best wedding venues A fun, supportive team environment Skills in public speaking, leadership, sales, customer service, event production, and communication What It's Really Like One weekend, you're DJing a beautiful barn wedding. The next, you're in a luxury ballroom helping 250 guests celebrate. You might be working with a couple during one of the most emotional days of their lives, then turning around and getting an entire dance floor moving 30 minutes later. It's fast-paced.
