JOB SUMMARY
The Front Desk Clerk provides guest service by performing check-ins/check-outs, responding to inquiries, and handling monetary transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Greets guests upon arrival as well as registers and assigns rooms via centralized system
Verifies guest identification and payment methods for room accommodations
Issues room keys and relays instructions to bellhops for the transfer of guests' luggage to rooms
Coordinates with housekeeping and maintenance for availability and readiness of guest rooms to keep records in the computer system
Makes and confirms reservations
Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment and any other activity connected with the hotel, gaming, or entertainment complex
Answers incoming phone calls, operates telephone system to receive incoming messages, and records guest messages
Computes guests' bills, collects payment by handling monetary transactions, and maintains accurate paperwork in relation to front desk operations
Performs basic bookkeeping, such as balancing cash accounts
Assists guests as issues are reported, contacting housekeeping and maintenance teams or escalating issues as needed
Maintains the front desk area in a neat, clean, and safe manner
Performs other related duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent customer service skills
Interpersonal and communication skills both in person and over the phone
Basic math and cash handling skills
Knowledge of Microsoft applications, POS systems, and other computer applications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required
One year of experience in a customer service environment

- The employee is frequently required to stand and remain stationary for the length of the shift.

- The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee may be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
