Job Description
Position Overview:
Thamer Medical PLLC is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant/Front Desk Staff. The MA will have the ability to perform all front and back-office functions both quickly and efficiently. Thamer Medical is single-physician office in Dearborn, MI with four total employees.Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with front desk and medical assistant duties. Assist front and back-office staff during high traffic times to ensure smooth patient services Ensure adherence of all office policies and procedures including HIPAA compliance Triage all phone calls to appropriate person or perform appropriate action, collect correct patient information. Check patient in/out- verify patient date each visit and necessary forms signed and explained. Daily Pre-register new patients; collect all data and verify insurances. (Make sure physician participates with insurance BEFORE booking a patient's appointment)
- Daily Collect co-pays at time of service/collect outstanding patient balances.
- Daily Give assigned person collected money at the end of each week.
- Friday Obtain pre-authorizations, claim number, adjusters name and claim address for worker comp and auto claims.
- As Needed, Daily Manage patient/physician phone inquiries.
- Upon Demand Direct patients to exam room; collect chief complaints, take vitals, prep patient to be seen by physician.
- Daily Follow and support business/employee policies.
- Daily Monitor/maintain inventory of medical supplies.
- Daily Complete other duties or tasks as needed or required by office manager or Physician.
- Daily Qualifications and skills: Knowledge and experience in all aspects of billing
- Knowledge of EcW EMR system Knowledge of regulations related to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance
- Knowledge of HIPAA and labor law
- Skill in using healthcare software and computer systems
- Knowledge of maintaining supplies and equipment for the medical setting
- Multitasking and problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and presentation skills, including face to face, email, telephone, and video conference Problem solving skills
