Key responsibilities
Guest Service:
Greet and welcome guests warmly upon arrival, manage check-in and check-out procedures efficiently. Address guest inquiries, requests, and complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly. Handle reservations, cancellations, and modifications, ensuring accuracy in guest information and room assignments. Provide information about hotel services, facilities, local attractions, dining options, and transportation. Process payments, maintain accurate records of transactions, and handle cash and credit cards responsibly.
Operational Support:
Answer and direct phone calls, taking and delivering messages for guests and other departments. Communicate effectively with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction. Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized front desk area. May assist with basic administrative tasks, such as checking and sending emails, sorting mail, and filing. May be responsible for tasks like preparing key packets, monitoring reservations, and verifying credit card information.
Safety and Security:
Issue and manage guest keys and safe-deposit boxes. Maintain confidentiality of guest information. Be aware of and follow hotel policies and procedures regarding health, safety, and security. Skills and qualifications High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous customer service experience (hotel or related field) preferred. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Strong interpersonal and guest relations skills. Basic computer proficiency, including hotel software systems (Property Management System). Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. In addition, some hotels may prefer candidates with specific certifications, like CPR, or proficiency in multiple languages.
