Summary:
The Front Desk is often the first point of contact and the first impression for guests, where warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure them they've made the right choice to stay with us. In this role, you'll deliver an exceptional guest experience by efficiently checking guests in and out, anticipating their needs, and ensuring they have everything for a great stay. As the night shift begins, you'll take on the critical responsibility of auditing and balancing the day's transactions with accuracy and attention to detail. You'll dive into the books to identify and resolve discrepancies, while remaining ready to assist travel-weary guests at the front desk. With precision and care, you'll help create a clear picture of the hotel's performance for the day ahead—all while providing top-notch, genuine hospitality to every guest you encounter. Flexibility is essential in this role , as you will move between front desk responsibilities and overnight audit duties depending on operational needs. You must be comfortable adapting to a variety of tasks, from delivering exceptional guest service during busy check-in times to focusing on detailed accounting work during quieter overnight hours. The ability to adjust your schedule, including working nights, weekends, and holidays, is key to supporting a 24/7 operation. Success in this position requires a positive attitude, strong time management, and a willingness to step in wherever needed to ensure both guest satisfaction and smooth hotel operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Provide a warm and welcoming first impression to guests, handling check-in and check-out processes efficiently, including verifying identification, and issuing room keys. Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests while collecting payment, computing bills, and processing cash and credit transactions accurately. Make and confirm reservations, manage bookings, and identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience through up-selling and personalized service. Answer phones and respond to guest inquiries in a prompt, courteous manner, providing information about hotel services, registration, and local dining, entertainment, and travel directions. Maintain accurate records of room availability and guest accounts, posting charges such as room, fees, and payments to the ledger. Perform night audit functions, including auditing, balancing, posting, and reporting on all hotel operations (front desk, rooms, and food and beverage outlets) to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting procedures. Review computer-generated reports to verify proper transaction recording and resolve discrepancies, ensuring all financial activity is accurate and protects the hotel from liability and fraud. Anticipate guest needs by recording preferences and responding to messages, requests, questions, and concerns in a timely and professional manner. Resolve guest issues and complaints using appropriate service recovery methods, escalating to management when necessary. Serve as a trusted point of contact for guests, assisting with everything from billing questions to local recommendations. Recognize and engage returning guests and loyalty program members to enhance their stay experience. Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the front lobby and work area, representing the brand with professionalism. Stay informed of daily events, hotel activities, and local happenings to better assist guests. Follow all safety and security procedures, reporting incidents and maintaining a safe environment for guests and staff. Assist with additional responsibilities such as concierge services, guest room tours, and delivering requested items (e.g., rollaway beds, cribs, towels, blankets). Support team members and perform other duties as needed to ensure smooth and efficient hotel operations. What We Need From You To be successful in this role, you'll bring a balance of guest service expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage both front desk responsibilities and overnight auditing tasks.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred. At least one year of front desk or guest service experience is strongly preferred. Experience with hotel systems such as Opera is a plus, but not required.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with guests, resolve concerns, and provide clear, helpful information in both one-on-one and small group settings.
Customer Service & Problem Solving:
A guest-focused mindset with the ability to handle concerns and complaints professionally, turning challenges into positive experiences.
Technical & Computer Skills:
Comfortable using computers and standard software, including Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn hotel management and accounting systems.
Math & Accuracy:
Basic math skills with the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with percentages and financial data accurately. Attention to

Ability to follow instructions, analyze information, and apply sound judgment to resolve routine issues and ensure accuracy in both guest service and accounting tasks.
Flexibility:
Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to adapt between guest-facing and audit responsibilities.
Language Skills:
Fluency in the primary language of the workplace is required; additional language skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, use hands and arms frequently, and occasionally lift, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs. This may include bending, reaching, and handling equipment or guest-requested items. Visual abilities such as close and distance vision, color recognition, and depth perception are required.
