Job Summary We're hiring a mailroom coordinator to keep incoming and outgoing mail and packages moving through our office. You'll sign for deliveries, sort everything by department, and get it to the right desk before the day is over. Mornings are usually the busiest stretch, since most carriers show up before ten and the outgoing mail has to be ready for afternoon pickup. It's a lot of walking. Most of the routing list and the carrier schedule is something we'll go over with you in your first week, so you don't need to know it ahead of time. Responsibilities Signing for packages and letters as carriers arrive. Sort mail by department and drop it at desks or cubbies on a set route. Weigh outgoing packages, print postage, and hand them off at pickup time so nothing sits overnight. Logging anything that needs a signature. Restock envelopes, tape, and labels as they run low. Light cleanup of the mail counter, sometimes including flattening boxes for recycling. Qualifications Getting to work on time matters here, because carriers arrive on their own schedule and won't wait for you. You keep track of names, room numbers, and tracking labels so a package for one floor doesn't end up on another. When a delivery lands right as the outgoing mail is due, good time management is what gets both done. Knowing your way around a computer well enough to scan a tracking number or type a name into a log is generally enough. Coworkers stop by with questions all day, being a team player and staying friendly goes a long way. Staying calm when the pile grows, and asking for help instead of guessing, saves everyone time. You're willing to learn the building layout and our routing list as you go.
