  • Downtown Anchorage, Alaska About the Opportunity The Voyager Inn is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead our 40-room boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Anchorage.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced hotel leader who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operation and wants the opportunity to make a direct impact. With a smaller property and team, our General Manager will be highly visible, work closely with associates and guests, and take ownership of the hotel's overall performance. We are looking to fill this position quickly and are seeking a dependable, motivated leader who can step in, build relationships with the team, and keep the hotel moving forward. Provide hands-on leadership and support to Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and other hotel operations. Recruit, train, coach, and develop hotel associates. Build a positive, accountable, and guest-focused work environment. Monitor guest feedback and respond promptly to concerns. Ensure guestrooms and public areas consistently meet cleanliness and quality standards. Manage hotel labor, expenses, purchasing, and operating costs. Review financial and operational reports and take action to improve performance. Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and revenue opportunities. Monitor occupancy, rates, and overall hotel performance. Build relationships with local businesses, community partners, and guests. Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable safety and regulatory requirements. Work closely with corporate and operational leadership to achieve property goals. Remain actively involved in hotel operations and step in where needed. Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the success of the hotel. What We're Looking For Previous hotel leadership experience required. General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, or similar hotel leadership experience preferred. Experience with select-service, limited-service, boutique, or smaller hotel operations is a plus. Strong understanding of Front Office and Housekeeping operations. Working knowledge of hotel financial statements, budgets, labor management, and cost controls. Strong leadership and team-building skills. Excellent guest service and problem-solving skills. Ability to make decisions and operate independently. Comfortable being a hands-on leader in a smaller hotel environment. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Basic proficiency with hotel systems and Microsoft Office. College degree preferred, but equivalent hotel leadership experience will be considered. Ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the hotel, including weekends and holidays when necessary. The Right Fit The Voyager Inn is a smaller property, so this is not a General Manager position where you'll spend the entire day behind a desk. We're looking for someone who enjoys knowing their team, interacting with guests, walking the property, solving problems, and jumping in when needed. Hospitality Expectations Our hotels operate seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. The General Manager is expected to provide leadership based on the operational needs of the property and be available to respond to hotel needs as appropriate.
