Assistant General Manager - Marriott Aloft Hotel Operations & Leadership
LOCATION
: Aloft Cupertino | 10165 N De Anza Blvd, Cupertino, CA 95014
SCHEDULE :
Full-Time | Must be able to work weekends & evenings | Must have full schedule flexibility
PAY :
Starting $70K-$75K Annual Salary

SUMMARY :
Seeking an experienced, service-driven, and strategic hospitality leader to serve as Assistant General Manager for our Marriott Aloft property. This key leadership role supports the General Manager in overseeing hotel operations, guest satisfaction, financial performance, associate development, sales initiatives, and brand compliance. The Assistant General Manager plays an active role in leading daily hotel operations while fostering a culture of service excellence, teamwork, accountability, and operational success. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality professional with strong operational leadership experience, business acumen, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences while supporting hotel performance goals and Marriott brand standards.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
: Support the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, food & beverage, engineering, guest services, sales, and administrative functions. Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction by maintaining high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, service, and brand execution. Provide leadership, coaching, and support to department leaders, managers, and hotel associates to promote engagement, accountability, and professional development. Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, employee recognition, corrective action, and leadership development initiatives. Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards, company policies, operational procedures, and safety regulations. Monitor hotel performance metrics, guest satisfaction scores, labor costs, STR reports, and operational data to identify opportunities for improvement. Assist with annual budgets, forecasting, labor planning, inventory controls, and expense management efforts. Support monthly financial reviews and collaborate with department leaders to achieve revenue, profitability, and operational objectives. Partner with the General Manager, sales team, and revenue management team to maximize occupancy and overall hotel performance. Lead operational meetings and department head meetings as assigned and help ensure alignment on hotel priorities and business goals. Respond to and resolve escalated guest concerns professionally while ensuring effective service recovery and guest retention. Serve as Manager-on-Duty (MOD) as needed and maintain a visible presence throughout the hotel. Conduct routine property inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and overall operational excellence. Support special projects, operational initiatives, renovations, and continuous improvement efforts. Assist in managing hotel operations in the General Manager's absence and help ensure continuity of leadership and decision-making.
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED
: Prior hotel Front Desk Supervisor experience required. Must be willing and able to learn and support Housekeeping and Food & Beverage departments. Must be able to arrange coverage for front desk, kitchen, or bar call-offs and be willing and able to report to work on short notice to help cover shifts when needed. Must be willing and able to cross-train in room inspections, kitchen operations, and bar operations. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible hotel leadership or hospitality management experience required. Previous Hotel Assistant General Manager, Operations Manager, Front Office Manager, or Department Head experience preferred. Marriott hotel experience preferred; Aloft, select-service, or lifestyle hotel experience is a plus. Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays, as business needs dictate. Ability to cover front desk shifts and conduct hotel room inspections as needed. Strong understanding of hotel operations including front office, housekeeping, engineering, food & beverage, revenue management, and guest services. Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance, and create a culture of accountability and service excellence. Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, labor management, expense control, and financial reporting. Sales-minded leader with experience supporting revenue growth, guest loyalty initiatives, and market performance. Excellent leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills. Ability to analyze operational and financial data and communicate recommendations effectively. Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS), Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and hotel operational reporting systems. Strong understanding of guest satisfaction platforms, online reputation management, and service recovery best practices. Professional, energetic, and guest-focused leadership style with strong interpersonal skills. Dependable attendance, professionalism, and operational flexibility required. Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout hotel property for extended periods; Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or move supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
