General Manager About the Position We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Hotel Operations Manager to join our 30-room boutique hotel and serve as the General Manager's key operational partner and second-in-command . This is not simply a department supervisor position. We are looking for a strong hospitality professional who can understand and oversee the operation of an entire boutique hotel, lead our team, take care of our guests, solve problems, and maintain high standards throughout the property. The Hotel Operations Manager will work closely with the General Manager and will be expected to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the hotel when the General Manager is off-site or unavailable. The ideal candidate is confident, organized, hands-on, and capable of making good decisions without needing constant direction.Compensation Base Salary:
Salary is Competitve and will be discussed with qualified candidates during initial interview process. In addition to the base salary, this position offers an opportunity to earn a performance-based annual bonus tied to established hotel goals and operational performance. Bonus opportunities may be based on areas including: Guest satisfaction and guest reviews Hotel cleanliness and room standards Employee performance and retention Labor and scheduling management Operational efficiency Property standards and maintenance Overall hotel performance Strong performance can result in total annual compensation significantly above the base salary. What You'll Do Lead the Hotel Operation Oversee the daily operation of the entire hotel. Serve as the manager in charge when the General Manager is absent. Maintain a visible management presence throughout the property. Ensure hotel policies, procedures, and service standards are followed. Identify problems before they become larger issues. Take ownership of operational problems and ensure they are resolved. Coordinate communication between front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and management. Conduct regular inspections of the hotel and property. Ensure the hotel remains clean, safe, organized, and guest-ready. Guest Experience Provide exceptional and personalized service to our guests. Maintain a welcoming presence throughout the property. Handle guest complaints and concerns professionally and promptly. Take ownership of service recovery. Follow up with guests to ensure issues have been resolved. Monitor guest feedback and online reviews. Identify opportunities to improve the guest experience. Support employees when dealing with difficult or high-priority guest situations. Team Leadership Lead, coach, train, and motivate hotel employees. Set clear expectations and hold employees accountable. Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, appearance, and performance. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training. Assist with scheduling and staffing. Address performance issues professionally and promptly. Promote teamwork and communication between departments. Recognize and encourage excellent employee performance. Lead by example and step in to help when the operation requires it. Front Desk Operations Oversee front desk operations and ensure appropriate coverage. Monitor arrivals, departures, room assignments, reservations, and special requests. Ensure proper check-in and check-out procedures. Monitor guest communications. Review shift reports and daily operational information. Ensure important information is properly communicated between shifts. Monitor cash-handling procedures. Assist the front desk during busy periods when necessary. Housekeeping & Rooms Work closely with housekeeping to ensure rooms are cleaned and released on time. Conduct regular room and public-area inspections. Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation. Coordinate room priorities between housekeeping and front desk. Monitor room status and out-of-order rooms. Monitor linens, towels, amenities, and housekeeping supplies. Ensure lost-and-found procedures are followed. Address housekeeping deficiencies promptly. Maintenance & Property Monitor the overall physical condition of the hotel. Ensure maintenance issues are reported, prioritized, and followed through. Coordinate with maintenance personnel and outside vendors. Monitor guest-room maintenance. Assist with preventive maintenance. Ensure the property is maintained to boutique-hotel standards. Follow up on unresolved maintenance issues. Help coordinate repairs and special projects. Safety & Emergencies Act as the management contact during operational emergencies. Respond appropriately to guest, employee, safety, security, and property issues. Coordinate with emergency services when necessary. Follow established hotel emergency procedures. Ensure employees understand basic emergency procedures. Document significant incidents. Communicate serious incidents to the General Manager promptly. Protect the safety and security of guests, employees, and hotel property. Scheduling & Labor Management Assist with employee scheduling. Ensure appropriate staffing levels based on occupancy and business needs. Monitor call-outs and assist with finding coverage. Monitor overtime and labor costs. Ensure critical positions are appropriately covered. Communicate staffing concerns to the General Manager. Inventory & Purchasing Monitor hotel operating supplies. Maintain appropriate inventory levels. Help manage housekeeping, front desk, maintenance, and guest amenities. Place approved orders. Receive and verify deliveries. Maintain organized storage areas. Prevent unnecessary waste and shortages. Communicate purchasing needs to the General Manager. Vendors & Contractors Coordinate with hotel vendors and service providers. Schedule vendor visits and repairs. Monitor vendor performance. Confirm work has been completed properly. Communicate concerns regarding vendor performance. Maintain professional relationships with vendors. Administrative Responsibilities Assist with daily operational reports. Review appropriate hotel reports. Assist with payroll and timekeeping review. Maintain operational records. Complete incident reports when necessary. Assist with employee documentation and training records. Monitor guest feedback and recurring operational issues. Communicate important information to the General Manager. When the General Manager Is Away This is one of the most important responsibilities of this position. When the General Manager is off-site or unavailable, the Hotel Operations Manager will serve as the designated manager responsible for the hotel's day-to-day operation .You will be expected to:
