This position provides exceptional service to patients, visitors, families, staff, and volunteers while helping ensure the Information Desk operates smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service and communication skills, previous supervisory experience, excellent computer skills, and the ability to remain calm and professional when handling questions, concerns, and challenging situations. Job Specifics This will start as a 2 month temporary position with the possibility of extension or converstion to a permanent employee. This is 100% on site. Must be bilingual in English & Spanish. Schedule will be variable hours/days, with 6 or 8 hour shifts.
Pay Range:
$25.00 to $27.00 per hour. Responsibilities Greet patients, visitors, and guests in a warm, professional, and hospitable manner. Answer questions and provide information, directions, and assistance throughout the hospital. Provide information regarding hospital departments, services, policies, procedures, and events. Oversee the delivery of patient mail and flowers and maintain appropriate documentation. Provide assistance to surgery families and follow up with hospital departments when questions or concerns arise. Provide information regarding local services such as hotels, restaurants, transportation, and support agencies. Support and supervise Information Desk volunteers, including orientation, training, coaching, and evaluation as needed. Communicate volunteer staffing issues, operational concerns, and service needs to leadership. Troubleshoot customer concerns and use effective conflict-management and problem-solving skills to resolve issues or appropriately escalate them. Collaborate with Patient Relations, Safety/Security, and other hospital departments to maintain a safe and positive environment. Identify and promptly report disturbances, unusual situations, or suspicious activity. Assist with maintaining guest areas and submit maintenance work orders as needed. Monitor guest wayfinding activity and help identify opportunities to improve workflow and staffing. Troubleshoot basic computer and technology issues at the Information Desk and related areas. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and respect when interacting with patients, visitors, staff, and volunteers. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 2 years of experience working with the public in a busy environment. At least 1 year of customer service supervisory experience. Bilingual Spanish/English required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Strong computer skills and ability to quickly learn new systems and programs. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong problem-solving and conflict-management abilities. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and age backgrounds. High school diploma or GED required. Healthcare or hospital customer-service experience is preferred.
