Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Hotel Maintenance Engineer & Engineering Department Supervisor to ensure the seamless operation and upkeep of our hotel facilities. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and equipment, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike. Your expertise will help uphold the highest standards of facility functionality, safety, and aesthetic appeal, contributing directly to guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
BASIC PURPOSE
Work with the Chief Engineer and engineering coworkers to ensure prompt and efficient attention to the maintenance needs of the property. Respond to all engineering service calls, giving priority to guest requests, and maintain hotel equipment in a efficient, safe, accident-free manner.
FUNCTIONS/REPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to and handle guest requests in a courteous, efficient, safe manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs an all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical and guest rooms.
- Monitor and maintain all engineering functions when full engineering staff is not available (i.e weekends and evenings).
- Respond to all emergency situations including fire alarms, bomb threats, disasters and power failures; notify the appropriate authorities.
- Make rounds of the hotel property to ensure everything is in working order.
- Clean and maintain all equipment and work areas.
- Complete maintenance requests, take equipment and meter readings and maintain company and brand maintenance logs to ensure repair and communication of problems.
- Document all parts used and parts needed to be purchased.
- Handle elevator breakdowns and other emergency mechanical situations.
- Report any unsafe conditions to the Chief Engineer.
- Assist with maintenance of parking lot and snow removal as needed.
- Complete any and all tasks assigned by the Chief Engineer
- When needed, assist other departments and employees with any tasks requested by a supervisor or manager
Engineering Department Supervisor:
( In addition to the above) In a supervisory role, and as directed by the
Chief Engineer:
- Give direct support to the Chief Engineer, covering days off, vacations and other absences of the Chief Engineer
- Maintain clear, concise and accurate information to the Chief Engineer regarding all Engineering Department functions.
- Assist Chief Engineer with interviewing, hiring and training of department employees.
- Direct the daily tasks of maintenance department employees, giving instruction, support and guidance as needed
- Monitor and handle employee concerns, requests, scheduling, and disciplinary needs
- Monitor and maintain all engineering functions when full engineering staff is not available (i.e weekends and evenings).
- When needed, prepare and forward any reports that are required of the Engineering Department, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Gather and evaluate bids for services, products and parts as needed for hotel maintenance, and as requested the Chief Engineer
- Make daily rounds of the hotel to ensure that everything is operating correctly and in a safe manner.
This includes pool and fitness center areas, kitchen and restaurant areas, parking lots, meeting and conference space, and all back-of-the-house areas,
Knowledge and Skills:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Trade school, special courses in building maintenance and construction are also highly recommended
Experience :
Two years prior experience in building maintenance or related industry.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to maintain and repair HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment
- Perform basic maintenance, renovation and construction functions
Hours Required:
- Scheduled days and times may vary based on hotel needs and staffing.
- Holidays, nights and weekends may be required.

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 32.0 - 40.0 per week
