Job Description

JOB TITLE
Ballroom Manager (Full-Time, Non-Exempt)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Oak Ballroom is a full-service reception, meeting, and event center operated by the City of Schuyler. The Ballroom Manager is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the Ballroom, supervising bartenders and ballroom staff, coordinating events, maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the facility, and cultivating a positive experience for guests.
JOB REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age One (1) year of supervisory experience One (1) year of experience in an event center, hospitality, bar, or customer service management role Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check Ability to obtain and maintain any required liquor service certification and/or permits in accordance with Nebraska Liquor Control Commission and City requirements Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
PREFERRED
Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or related field One (1) year of experience as a bartender
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Bartenders and Ballroom Workers
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of daily cash flow related to ballroom operations Invoicing, receiving, and tracking event rental payments Participating in yearly budget preparation under the direction of the City Administrator
INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS
Supervises Ballroom Bartenders and Ballroom Workers Works with other municipal departments to maintain grounds and facility operations Supervised by City Administrator Works with vendors and product suppliers to procure ballroom merchandise and supplies
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and crouch for extended periods Must be able to occasionally lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
Primary worksite is the Oak Ballroom May be required to work outdoors in heat or cold Required to have frequent contact with large crowds Work schedule subject to operational needs, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Show the Ballroom to prospective renters; review rental agreements and book events Schedule Ballroom events and ensure proper planning, staffing, and stocking for events Supervise and assist with set-up and tear-down of events Accurately record and manage monetary transactions related to ballroom services and beverage sales Invoice customers and track payments Maintain inventory of merchandise and supplies and reorder as needed Maintain effective communication with supervisors, employees, and customers Maintain cleanliness of the premises including bar area, glassware, tables, floors, restrooms, and surrounding exterior areas Ensure compliance with all applicable alcohol laws and regulations Maintain a safe work environment Train, supervise, and evaluate employees Identify facility maintenance needs and coordinate repairs Participate in yearly budget preparation under the direction of the City Administrator Ensure customer needs are met prior to and during events Promote and market the Ballroom to potential customers Perform other duties as assigned

$22.00 - $28.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
