Hotel Operations Manager Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic, energetic, and hands-on Hotel Operations Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our hospitality establishment, with a strong focus on property maintenance, facilities, and operational efficiency . In this pivotal role, you will ensure exceptional guest experiences by managing all facets of hotel operations, including guest services, staff supervision, maintenance, facilities, financial management, and overall operational performance. You will work closely with all departments—including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance—to ensure the hotel operates safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. A key component of this position will be providing leadership and oversight of the maintenance department, ensuring the property, guest rooms, public areas, equipment, and building systems are properly maintained. You will oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, work orders, vendor relationships, safety compliance, and maintenance-related budgeting while balancing these responsibilities with the broader operational needs of the hotel. Your leadership will drive team performance, uphold hotel standards, protect the hotel's physical assets, optimize operational efficiency and revenue, and create a welcoming environment that exceeds guest expectations while fostering a positive workplace culture. Responsibilities Oversee the daily operations of the hotel, ensuring smooth coordination across departments, including maintenance, front desk, food and beverage, and housekeeping. Provide direct leadership and oversight of the maintenance department, ensuring the property and all facilities remain safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained. Lead and supervise hospitality and maintenance teams, fostering a motivated, accountable, and customer-focused work environment through effective team management, coaching, and training. Establish and maintain preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment failures, emergency repairs, operational disruptions, and long-term maintenance costs. Monitor daily maintenance requests, work orders, guest room repairs, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency maintenance needs, ensuring issues are prioritized and resolved promptly. Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, mechanical spaces, equipment, and other hotel facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, functionality, and property standards are consistently met or exceeded. Coordinate maintenance activities with housekeeping, front desk, food and beverage, and other departments to minimize disruptions and ensure efficient hotel operations. Manage hotel guest service standards to deliver outstanding guest experiences, addressing guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests promptly and professionally, including maintenance-related concerns. Ensure maintenance issues affecting guest comfort, safety, or satisfaction are addressed quickly and effectively. Utilize property management systems (PMS), maintenance/work-order systems, and hospitality reservation systems to optimize room assignments, maintenance requests, bookings, and operational efficiency. Monitor and manage hotel operating and maintenance budgets, including forecasting, expense control, purchasing, vendor costs, and financial reporting to maximize profitability. Evaluate maintenance and repair needs and make recommendations regarding repair versus replacement, equipment upgrades, capital improvements, and long-term property investments. Manage relationships with outside contractors, vendors, and service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, professionally, on schedule, and within budget. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of maintenance supplies, tools, equipment, and replacement parts. Implement and uphold hotel policies related to human resources, workplace safety, building operations, staffing requirements, maintenance procedures, and regulatory compliance. Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, fire and life-safety requirements, building standards, and hotel operating procedures. Develop strategies for revenue enhancement through pricing adjustments, promotional campaigns, market analysis, and improved operational efficiency while maintaining high standards of customer service. Identify opportunities to reduce operating expenses through preventive maintenance, energy efficiency, effective purchasing, vendor management, and improved operational processes. Maintain effective communication with staff at all levels using strong managerial communication skills to ensure clarity of goals, expectations, priorities, and operational needs. Conduct regular audits and inspections of hotel facilities to identify maintenance issues, safety concerns, and opportunities for property improvement. Foster positive guest relations by ensuring personalized service delivery and maintaining a well-functioning, comfortable, and attractive property that encourages repeat business and positive reviews. Identify recurring operational and maintenance issues and implement long-term solutions to improve efficiency, reliability, and guest satisfaction. Support hotel leadership in planning and executing renovations, capital improvement projects, equipment replacements, and other property enhancement initiatives. Requirements Proven experience overseeing daily hotel operations with strong supervisory and leadership skills in a hospitality environment. Demonstrated experience overseeing or managing a hotel maintenance, engineering, facilities, or property operations function. Strong knowledge of hospitality management practices, including guest services, revenue management, budgeting, financial operations, human resources, and property maintenance. Working knowledge of hotel building systems and maintenance functions, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, life-safety equipment, and general building maintenance. Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs and maintenance work-order processes. Proficiency with property management systems (PMS), hospitality reservation systems, maintenance/work-order systems, multi-line phone systems, and other hotel management tools. Exceptional leadership abilities with experience managing hospitality and/or maintenance teams to achieve operational excellence. Strong communication skills in managerial and customer-facing settings; bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable for serving diverse guests and employees effectively. Demonstrated ability to manage hotel operating and maintenance budgets while maintaining high service, safety, and property standards. Experience managing vendors, contractors, service providers, maintenance projects, and property repairs. Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and relationship building. Experience implementing and maintaining hotel guest service standards, along with proficiency in professional phone etiquette and communication. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple operational, maintenance, and guest-service needs simultaneously. Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and respond effectively to emergencies in a fast-paced hotel environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to identify operational problems, determine appropriate solutions, and follow through to completion. Ability to work collaboratively with all hotel departments while maintaining accountability for operational and maintenance standards.
