Job Description
Position Overview We are seeking a dependable and guest-focused Front Desk Manager to lead our front office team and help ensure the hotel operates smoothly from arrival through departure. This position is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the front desk, including team supervision, guest service, reservations, billing, communication, and adherence to hotel procedures. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable working alongside the front desk team, coaching employees, resolving guest concerns, and keeping operations organized during both busy and slower periods. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced front desk professional who is ready to take the next step into a management role, as well as an experienced supervisor looking for a new environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise front desk associates, providing direction, coaching, training, and ongoing feedback. Ensure the front desk is properly staffed and that daily operations are covered effectively. Oversee guest arrivals and departures, ensuring accurate registration, room assignments, billing, and payment processing. Manage reservations, room availability, guest profiles, and related front-office functions using the Choice Advantage PMS . Monitor reservations and front desk activity for accuracy and address discrepancies as they arise. Respond to guest questions, requests, and concerns in a professional and solutions-oriented manner. Take ownership of guest recovery situations and work to resolve problems while protecting the interests of the hotel. Maintain accurate cash handling, credit card processing, deposits, and other front desk financial procedures. Review daily front desk activity and reports for accuracy and communicate important issues to hotel management. Assist with or oversee night audit functions and ensure proper completion of required end-of-day procedures. Maintain clear communication between the front desk and housekeeping, maintenance, and other hotel departments. Ensure front desk employees follow established policies, procedures, and service standards. Train new front desk employees and help team members develop stronger operational and guest-service skills. Monitor the appearance, organization, and overall professionalism of the front desk and lobby area. Handle incoming telephone calls, reservations, guest inquiries, and other communications professionally. Assist with emergency situations and ensure established hotel safety and emergency procedures are followed. Identify operational issues and communicate them to management before they become larger problems. Step in and assist with front desk duties when needed, particularly during periods of high occupancy or staffing shortages. Perform other duties necessary to support the successful operation of the hotel. What We're Looking For Previous hotel front desk, guest services, or hospitality supervisory experience. Previous management or leadership experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider a strong front desk professional ready to advance. Experience working with a hotel PMS; Choice Advantage experience is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with guests, employees, vendors, and management. Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills, particularly when handling guest complaints or unexpected situations. Strong attention to detail when handling reservations, billing, payments, and hotel records. Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional in a fast-paced hotel environment. Ability to train, coach, and hold employees accountable to established standards. Comfortable working independently and making appropriate decisions within established hotel policies. Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays when business needs require. Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus. What Success Looks Like A successful Front Desk Manager keeps the front office organized, the team informed, and the guest experience consistent. You will be expected to lead by example, address problems rather than pass them along, and maintain high standards even when the hotel is busy. This is a hands-on management position . The Front Desk Manager will spend time working directly with the front desk team and guests while also handling the administrative and leadership responsibilities necessary to keep the department running effectively.
